Air New Zealand has introduced an inspired new menu for its premium cabins, artfully designed to immerse travelers in the diverse culinary landscape of Aotearoa while championing local artisans and purveyors.
Available through October, this season's menu showcases signature tastes from iconic regions such as Fiordland, Hawke’s Bay, and the Coromandel, offering passengers a true gastronomic journey across New Zealand's finest terroirs.
Menus are tailored to each destination, with Air New Zealand’s long-haul offerings refreshed twice a year to ensure both variety and the highest quality.
Signature dishes reinterpret beloved New Zealand flavors, such as a confit potato with whipped onion crème fraîche and fresh chives—an elevated nod to the classic chips and dip enjoyed throughout the country.
Guests can also savor specialties like crayfish bisque finished with chive crème fraîche and artisan sourdough croutons, or indulge in slow-braised wild Fiordland venison complemented by pancetta, parmesan polenta, and balsamic-glazed red onions.
All ingredients are meticulously sourced from regional producers, featuring highlights such as Daily Bread’s mānuka smoked rye sourdough and Duck Island’s celebrated ambrosia ice cream. The latest menu emphasizes heartier, richer flavors to enhance comfort during the winter season at altitude.
With over 7 million meals served each year, Air New Zealand relies on Auckland for more than 70% of its onboard catering, ensuring freshness and consistency for every flight.
On the sustainability front, Air New Zealand is advancing its commitment to environmental leadership by piloting the elimination of single-use cups on select domestic routes. This initiative explores innovative solutions for providing hot beverages at cruising altitude—without generating unnecessary waste.
Following the successful removal of single-use cups from Air New Zealand lounges—where over one million were previously consumed annually—the airline is now working towards eliminating more than nine million single-use hot drink cups, as well as millions of plastic water cups, from its entire fleet.
