British Airways has commenced its latest phase of the Club Suite Business Class retrofit, with the first of its 12 Boeing 787-8 Dreamliners now being upgraded to feature the airline’s award-winning private suites.
Originally debuting in 2019 on the Airbus A350, the Club Suite brought a transformative experience to transatlantic business travel, offering a fully flat bed, direct aisle access, a privacy door, and thoughtfully designed storage options. The suite is equipped with an expansive high-definition entertainment screen, an intuitive touchscreen remote, AC power, dual USB charging, and a dedicated headphone socket. Passengers can also enjoy plush bedding curated by The White Company, ensuring a restful journey.
The Club Suite is already standard on BA’s newest Airbus A350-1000 and Boeing 787-10 jets, while the Boeing 777 fleet continues to receive systematic upgrades to the latest Business Class offering.
The reconfigured 787-8s will offer 31 Club Suites, a reduction from the previous 35 Business Class seats, while World Traveller Plus (Premium Economy) expands by 12 seats to a total of 37. This adjustment results in an overall aircraft capacity decrease from 214 to 204 seats, aligning with BA’s focus on premium passenger experience.
The Boeing 787-9 fleet will follow, with plans to maintain eight First Class suites and a slight reduction in Business Class seating to accommodate 38 Club Suites. Premium Economy will remain at 39 seats, and the total aircraft capacity will be adjusted to 215 seats, reflecting a commitment to comfort over density.
