Marking over seven decades since the inaugural British flight to Japan, British Airways has introduced its state-of-the-art Club Suite Business Class cabin on direct services connecting London Heathrow and Tokyo Haneda. As of this year, British Airways stands as the sole carrier operating a Business Class suite with full-height privacy doors on non-stop flights between the UK and Japan, setting a new benchmark for transcontinental luxury travel. The advanced Boeing 777-300ER aircraft, featuring the latest Club Suite configuration, now operates exclusively on this prestigious route.
First Class continues to be available on all Tokyo-bound flights, offering an elevated standard of exclusivity. Guests in First Class are treated to custom-designed loungewear and amenity kits curated by renowned British label Temperley London, alongside ELEMIS skincare products and premium bedding crafted from sustainable recycled materials.
British Airways' legacy with Japan began in 1948, when its predecessor, British Overseas Airways Corporation (BOAC), became the first UK airline to connect the two countries. The original journey, which extended from Poole to Iwakuni and later to Tokyo, took seven days and included stops in cities such as Alexandria, Karachi, Calcutta, and Hong Kong. Today, the route is a symbol of BA’s enduring commitment to innovation and service excellence.
In celebration of this milestone, British Airways Business Class passengers can now savor iconic dishes inspired by the airline’s rich culinary history, including signature entrées like beef stroganoff and beef cheek okaribayaki, alongside a reimagined cherry meringue gateau—a nod to the classic desserts from the golden age of air travel. Each guest receives a plush pillow and cozy quilt by The White Company, complemented by an elegantly presented amenity kit for a restful journey.
