British Airways is elevating winter getaways with exclusive direct flights to Lapland, the enchanting homeland of Santa Claus, perfect for luxury travelers seeking authentic Arctic experiences.
Commencing December 3rd, BA Euroflyer will operate twice-weekly nonstops from London Gatwick to Ivalo, Finland’s northernmost airport and a coveted entry point to the magic of the Arctic Circle. This picturesque village, set along the tranquil Ivalo River, transforms into a festive haven each winter, drawing visitors for its pristine snowscapes and world-class activities. Ivalo is the gateway to Saariselkä, an acclaimed Finnish resort celebrated for premium winter sports, such as alpine skiing, snowmobiling, dog sledding, and snowshoe adventures.
Travelers wishing to immerse themselves in Lapland’s festive spirit can visit the renowned Northern Lights Village in Saariselkä, where meeting Santa Claus is a cherished tradition. The region’s remote Arctic setting also makes it one of Europe’s premier locations for viewing the ethereal Aurora Borealis, especially during the extended polar nights.
All flights are operated by BA Euroflyer, British Airways’ specialist short-haul division at Gatwick’s South Terminal. Guests are welcome to check winter sports equipment—including skis and snowboards—within the generous allowance of 190 x 75 x 65 cm as part of their standard baggage entitlement.
This new Ivalo service joins British Airways’ expanding Nordic winter portfolio, following the recent launch of direct flights from London Heathrow to Tromsø, Norway.
Roundtrip fares begin at £345, with flights scheduled every Tuesday and Friday through February 14th, 2025, ensuring flexibility for both short escapes and extended Arctic retreats.
