Brussels Airlines has officially introduced its latest uniform collection for cabin crew, pilots, and ground staff, reflecting a new era of sustainable luxury travel.
Belgium’s flagship airline collaborated with Gabrielle Szwarcenberg, a distinguished talent from the Royal Academy of Fine Arts Antwerp, in partnership with leading Belgian fashion houses. This initiative underscores the airline’s dedication to celebrating local artistry and heritage. The new uniforms are crafted from innovative eco-friendly textiles such as grape and cactus-based fibers. The comprehensive style guide has been modernized to ensure inclusivity across the workforce.
Since March 1, 2024, more than 2,600 Brussels Airlines employees across all service areas have been outfitted in these state-of-the-art uniforms.
The design features a sophisticated deep navy palette accented with Champagne gold, harmonizing perfectly with the airline’s refreshed branding. Drawing inspiration from the timeless glamour of 1960s aviation couture, the collection offers contemporary silhouettes—think tailored turtlenecks, elegant A-line dresses, and refined unisex pieces. Comfort and versatility are prioritized, with options suited for diverse body types and age groups. Notably, the range includes gender-neutral choices and the introduction of stylish sneakers, complementing vegan-leather footwear. The two-year creative process was highly collaborative, incorporating feedback from frontline staff through surveys, workshops, and design sessions.
Every supplier involved in the project adhered to stringent environmental and ethical standards throughout the production of uniforms and accessories. Materials such as BCI-certified cotton, mulesing-free wool, and innovative vegan leathers demonstrate Brussels Airlines’ ongoing commitment to environmental stewardship. All production facilities were rigorously vetted for sustainable practices and fair labor conditions.
Plans are in place to upcycle the outgoing uniforms, with further details to be communicated as the program expands.
Brussels Airlines has also overhauled its personal appearance guidelines, introducing gender-neutral policies for hair, makeup, and jewelry. Makeup and nail polish are now optional for all employees, provided they follow approved palettes and styles. Hair regulations are uniformly applied, requiring longer hair to be secured for safety reasons. The airline has also updated its approach to visible tattoos, permitting them within defined boundaries.
