Marking a significant milestone during oneworld’s 25th anniversary, Fiji Airways has been formally inducted as the alliance’s 15th full member, inviting travelers to experience its renowned South Pacific hospitality on a global stage.
Fiji Airways, the flagship carrier of Fiji and a major connector throughout the South Pacific, previously participated as a oneworld connect partner for five years. Throughout this period, the airline has cultivated robust alliances with oneworld’s leading carriers, laying the groundwork for a seamless progression to full membership. The transition is already underway, with full integration expected to be finalized over the next year.
Operating from its strategic base at Nadi International Airport, Fiji Airways links 26 destinations across 15 countries, connecting with major oneworld hubs such as Sydney, Hong Kong, Los Angeles, and Tokyo. Fiji Link, the carrier’s domestic and regional subsidiary, will serve as an affiliate member, further extending oneworld’s reach to smaller Pacific nations including Tonga, Samoa, Tuvalu, and Vanuatu. In 2024, Fiji Airways transported more than 2.3 million passengers and offered over 3 million seats, underscoring its expansion and renewed investment in a modernized fleet, highlighted by advanced Airbus A350 aircraft. These enhancements position Fiji Airways to deliver a premium experience as a full oneworld participant.
With this new status, Fiji Airways customers and oneworld frequent flyers—including Emerald, Sapphire, and Ruby tier members—will benefit from an array of alliance privileges: mileage accrual and redemption, elite status recognition, priority check-in and boarding, and access to nearly 700 luxurious Business and First Class lounges worldwide. This includes the latest oneworld-branded lounges at Amsterdam Schiphol and Seoul Incheon, setting new benchmarks for comfort and exclusivity.
Founded on September 1, 1951, Fiji Airways has evolved into a fleet of 21 aircraft, featuring state-of-the-art Airbus A350s, A330s, and Boeing 737s, reflecting its commitment to innovation and passenger comfort.
As oneworld celebrates its silver jubilee in 2024, the alliance—established by American Airlines, British Airways, Cathay Pacific, and Qantas—continues its global expansion. Oman Air’s recent addition as the 14th member, alongside Alaska Airlines, American Airlines, British Airways, Cathay Pacific Airways, Finnair, Iberia, Japan Airlines, Malaysia Airlines, Qantas, Qatar Airways, Royal Air Maroc, Royal Jordanian, and SriLankan Airlines, further strengthens the network’s appeal to discerning travelers.
