Marking its 104th year of continuous service, KLM Royal Dutch Airlines has introduced its newest Delftware miniature, a cherished tradition for the airline’s World Business Class travelers.
This year’s collectible is a meticulously crafted replica of the historic Valkenburg aan de Geul railway station, recognized as the oldest surviving station building in the Netherlands. Located in the idyllic Limburg province, this architectural gem has stood since 1853 and is now protected as a national heritage monument.
Designed by Jacob Enschedé, the station’s striking English Gothic Revival architecture—complete with turrets and crenellated battlements—reflects the grandeur of Valkenburg’s renowned 19th-century spa culture. The building, in continuous use for over 170 years, was extensively restored in 2005 and remains a pivotal transport hub for both residents and visitors drawn to this picturesque Dutch town.
This marks KLM’s third Delftware house to pay homage to the Limburg region, further enriching the airline’s celebrated collection of Dutch architectural icons.
Since the 1950s, KLM has delighted intercontinental World Business Class passengers by gifting these iconic Delftware houses, each filled with authentic Bols Jenever. These limited-edition miniatures, inspired by storied Dutch buildings, have become highly coveted among collectors worldwide. Since 1994, KLM has introduced a new house annually to coincide with its anniversary, tying the house number to the airline’s age.
