Malaysia Airlines has unveiled its newly designed Business Class seats, now featured across 38 Boeing 737-800NG aircraft in its domestic and regional network. These refreshed cabins, all operating from Kuala Lumpur International Airport—a major Southeast Asian aviation hub—represent the airline's commitment to sustainable luxury and passenger-centric innovation. As of 2025, the entire fleet has been fully retrofitted.
Shaped by feedback from frequent flyers and in-depth customer research, these modern seats are crafted in a 2-2 layout and offer a generous 39-inch (99 cm) seat pitch. The contemporary design features signature blue Batik-patterned leather upholstery, reflecting Malaysia Airlines’ rich heritage while embracing a lighter, eco-friendly structure. Each aircraft now benefits from an impressive weight reduction of approximately 679 kilograms, translating into an estimated 8% improvement in per-passenger fuel efficiency, supporting the airline’s ongoing carbon reduction initiatives.
Soft fabric dividers have replaced traditional bulkhead partitions, creating a more open and sophisticated ambiance. In a move toward seamless digital experiences, seatback entertainment screens have been removed, replaced by wireless streaming technology that allows guests to access a curated selection of content directly on their own devices.
Engineered for optimal comfort, the ergonomic seats are equipped with a six-way adjustable headrest, calf support, integrated coat hook, bottle holder, dedicated device stand, and universal AC, USB-A, and USB-C charging ports for uninterrupted productivity and entertainment.
The MHstudio wireless entertainment platform gives travelers full control to stream an extensive catalogue of movies, TV shows, music, podcasts, and e-publications. Since Q4 2023, MHstudio has enabled guests to order duty-free items and gourmet snacks to their seat, further enhancing the bespoke inflight experience.
For long-haul journeys, Malaysia Airlines continues to set the benchmark with its fully enclosed Business Suites on the flagship Airbus A350-900. These suites, along with the standard Business Class on the A350-900 and A330-300, offer 22-inch (56 cm) wide seats, a 44-inch (112 cm) pitch, and a full-flat bed stretching to 78 inches (198 cm), ensuring restful travel on intercontinental routes.
