SAS has rolled out two new fare categories featuring biofuel integration, now available on all domestic, intra-Scandinavian, and European routes. This initiative is part of SAS’s ambitious commitment to power its entire domestic network with fossil-free fuel by 2030.
Passengers booking Go Smart Bio or Plus Pro Bio fares can now select tickets that include up to 50% biofuel—the highest permissible blend under current regulations—directly reducing the carbon footprint of their journey with SAS.
The biofuel surcharge is factored into these fares, based on average flight durations—approximately 60 minutes for Swedish or Norwegian domestic flights, 60 minutes for intra-Scandinavian routes, 35 minutes for Danish domestic, and 90 minutes for European sectors.
For every biofuel-inclusive ticket purchased, SAS ensures an equivalent amount of sustainable aviation fuel is used in its operations within 12 months, offering full transparency and traceability for eco-conscious travelers.
The airline operates this program on a non-profit basis, passing the full cost of the biofuel directly to the consumer.
