Turkish Airlines - first Melbourne ... now Sydney

Turkish Airlines has elevated its presence in Australia, recently inaugurating non-stop service between Istanbul and Melbourne and officially announcing plans to introduce flights to Sydney, Australia’s largest metropolitan hub, within the year.

Beginning in March, Turkish Airlines commenced three weekly flights to Melbourne, Victoria, utilizing the award-winning Airbus A350-1000 and offering a premium stopover at Singapore Changi International Airport. This new route strengthens the airline’s growing global portfolio, now boasting a modern fleet of over 450 aircraft and one of the world’s largest international networks.

With these direct connections, Turkish Airlines anticipates transporting thousands of travelers annually between Istanbul and Melbourne, stimulating bilateral tourism and commerce. Professor Ahmet Bolat, Chairman of the Board and Executive Committee, has confirmed that the airline is preparing for up to four weekly flights to Sydney by the end of 2025. Until the new Airbus A350-1000 deliveries are finalized, the Singapore stopover will remain a key part of the airline’s Asia-Pacific strategy.

As a proud member of Star Alliance—alongside leading carriers such as Singapore Airlines, Lufthansa, Air Canada, ANA, and United Airlines—Turkish Airlines continues to expand its reach, now serving 346 cities across six continents. These new gateways further cement its position as a global aviation leader, recognized for its exceptional service and innovative route development.
