Review of Korean Air Business Class

Korean Air stands as South Korea’s flagship airline and remains one of the world’s most globally connected carriers, operating from its state-of-the-art Seoul-Incheon hub. As of 2025, Korean Air continues to serve every continent, reinforcing its status as a leader in both passenger and freight transport.

Prestige Class, Korean Air’s signature Business Class product, is offered across a modern wide-body fleet that includes Boeing 787 Dreamliners, B777s, 747s, and Airbus A380s, each featuring distinct seating layouts and amenities tailored for premium travelers.

With luxury air travel in high demand, Korean Air has ramped up frequencies and restored numerous routes, especially to China, Japan, and Southeast Asia, while introducing new destinations in Vietnam. The airline’s rebound has been especially robust on transpacific and European routes, with capacity now approaching pre-pandemic figures. Key North American gateways include New York JFK, Los Angeles, Washington D.C., Toronto, and Vancouver, while Sydney and Auckland anchor their Australasian network.

As a founding member of the SkyTeam Alliance, Korean Air collaborates with 18 other leading airlines, providing seamless connectivity to over 1,000 destinations in more than 160 countries.

The SKYPASS frequent flyer program distinguishes itself with three elite tiers: Morning Calm Club, Morning Calm Premium Club, and Million Miler Club. Members accrue miles on Korean Air and SkyTeam flights, redeemable for award flights and exclusive benefits. Notably, SKYPASS continues to offer industry-leading mileage validity—miles earned since July 2008 are valid for a decade, while those accrued before June 2008 never expire.

Airport experience

Seoul’s Incheon International Airport (ICN) is the country’s principal aviation gateway, located 48 kilometers (30 miles) west of central Seoul. Renowned for its efficiency and innovation, ICN consistently ranks among the world’s top airports for premium amenities and passenger satisfaction.

Travelers enjoy an array of world-class facilities, from tranquil spas and sleep pods to an ice skating rink, casino, multiplex cinema, e-sports lounge, botanical gardens, and a museum dedicated to Korean culture. Whether you’re departing, arriving, or connecting, Incheon guarantees an engaging and stress-free experience.

For passengers seeking rest between flights, the Airport Transit Hotel near Gate 28 offers flexible six-hour stays in well-appointed rooms with en suite showers—more boutique chic than grand hotel, but exceedingly comfortable.

Prestige Class travelers benefit from SkyPriority, which includes exclusive check-in counters, expedited security and immigration at select airports, priority boarding, and swift baggage delivery. The generous baggage policy allows two checked pieces (up to 32 kg each) and two cabin bags totaling 18 kg or 115 linear centimeters (45 inches).

Korean Air’s two Prestige Class Lounges, located in Terminal 2’s east and west wings, provide panoramic runway views, abundant seating, device charging points, complimentary Wi-Fi, shower suites, and serene relaxation zones equipped with massage chairs.

Gourmet buffets present both Korean classics and Western favorites, complemented by a stylish bar serving premium wines, spirits, draft beers, and a variety of soft drinks.

Cabin & Seat

Korean Air’s long-haul fleet features an impressive array of wide-body aircraft—Boeing 787s, 777s, 747s, and Airbus A380s—each offering unique Business Class seating experiences. The airline is in the process of unveiling all-new "Business Suite Seats" on its latest Boeing 787-10s, with a full retrofit planned for the flagship 777-300ERs. These next-generation suites are anticipated to set new benchmarks in privacy and luxury, with the first aircraft already delivered in 2025.

The Business Class cabins evoke a tranquil ambiance, blending soft white panels with signature teal and blue upholstery. Three primary seat types are found across the fleet: the Prestige Suite, Prestige Sleeper, and Prestige Plus. The Prestige Suite, inspired by the acclaimed Apex Suite, is available on 787-9s, select 777-300ERs, 747s, and A330-300s (2-2-2 configuration), with capacity ranging from 24 to 42 seats. Each seat offers direct aisle access thanks to an innovative staggered layout.

While these "Suites" do not feature full privacy doors, they do provide electronic dividers for enhanced seclusion. Expect a generous seat pitch of 75 inches (190 cm), extending to 80 inches (203 cm) when fully flat, with a seat width of 21 inches (53 cm). Each seat is equipped with 17- or 18-inch touchscreens, USB ports, and AC power outlets.

The Prestige Sleeper is a fully flat bed, slightly narrower and with a marginally shorter pitch, available in a 2-2-2 format. The A380 upper deck boasts 94 Prestige Sleepers, while select 777s and A330s offer similar layouts. These seats include 15.4-inch screens, USB connectivity, and power supply.

Prestige Plus, found on 777-200s in a 2-3-2 configuration (28 seats), offers a deeply reclining (170-degree) seat with less privacy and space than the other Business Class products.

Given the diversity of seat offerings, it’s essential to review the seat map for your specific aircraft to ensure your preferred configuration.

Our Businessclass flight search features comprehensive seat maps, photos, and videos for most airlines, including detailed seat specs—helping you make an informed choice before booking.

Cuisine

Korean Air elevates in-flight dining by allowing Business Class guests to pre-order gourmet meals directly via its website, catering to both Korean and international palates. On intercontinental routes, patrons can select from three to four main courses—signature Korean Bibimbap with premium beef and seasonal vegetables, a chef-inspired seafood creation, or a Western-style meat entrée.

Meals arrive on elegant porcelain, presented atop linen-draped trays and accompanied by gleaming cutlery and designer glassware. The culinary journey begins with refined starters, followed by a cheese plate and a rotation of fresh fruit or exquisite pastries. Soups and assorted breads complement both Western and Asian menu choices.

On overnight and ultra-long flights, a second lighter meal or breakfast is offered—with options ranging from Korean seafood rice and Chinese stir-fry to continental breakfasts and Korean rice porridge. Comfort snacks—including Ramyeon noodles, pizza slices, cookies, and more—are available throughout the flight.

Korean Air has expanded its sustainable catering with a plant-based Korean meal option, inspired by temple cuisine and available for pre-order up to 24 hours prior to departure. This menu features organic grains, seasonal vegetables, and dishes such as steamed barley rice, roasted mushrooms, mung bean jelly, and tofu with plum salsa. Ginkgo nut porridge and roasted yam enhance the selection.

Travelers can also choose from five distinct vegetarian meal styles, including lacto-ovo, Asian vegetarian, Hindu vegetarian, Jain, and raw vegan options.

Beverages

Korean Air’s beverage program is curated in partnership with Marc Almert, winner of the 2019 Best Sommelier of the World. The inflight wine list showcases premium selections from France, Germany, Italy, Spain, Austria, Australia, and the United States, including top-tier French labels such as La Perriere Megalithe Sancerre from the Loire Valley.

The spirits and cocktail menu is robust, featuring international favorites and the airline’s proprietary KAL’s Lager craft beer. Tea aficionados will appreciate the Dammann Frères collection, with choices such as Darjeeling, Earl Grey, and Korean Red Ginseng, complemented by Starbucks brewed coffee.

Champagne service varies by route, with prestigious options like Perrier Jouët Grand Brut, Joseph Perrier Cuvée Royale, or Charles Heidsieck Brut Millésimé gracing the Business Class cabin.

Our Businessclass flight search details the current Champagne offerings in both Business and First Class. We strive to keep information up to date, and invite travelers to contact us with any updates.

Service

Korean Air’s onboard hospitality is marked by exceptional attention to detail and a culture of genuine care. During our flights, the crew consistently anticipated passenger needs with both warmth and efficiency, creating a refined yet approachable atmosphere in the cabin.

The uniforms, designed by the late Gianfranco Ferré—former creative director at Christian Dior—remain a standout. Female crew don elegant celadon jackets, silk blouses, and tailored stone skirts with white scarves and chic gloves, perfectly complementing the cabin’s color palette. Male crew are equally polished in bespoke suits, lending an air of sophistication and professionalism to the inflight experience.

Entertainment

Entertainment in Korean Air’s Business Class varies by seat model, with expansive 17- or 18-inch screens in the Prestige Suites and 15.4-inch monitors in Prestige Sleeper and Plus seats. The content library is robust, offering the latest Hollywood blockbusters, Korean cinema, international TV, sports, and curated music selections. High-quality noise-cancelling headphones are provided, and select aircraft allow streaming to personal devices.

Notably, while Wi-Fi is available on the Boeing 737-8 and Airbus A321neo fleets, most long-haul aircraft remain without full inflight connectivity, a limitation for business travelers needing consistent access. We expect further rollout of fleet-wide Wi-Fi in coming years.

Our Businessclass flight search details up-to-date information on each route’s entertainment and connectivity features.

Amenities & Facilities

Prestige Class guests are welcomed with a deluxe amenity kit featuring a dental set, sleep mask, and high-end Atelier Cologne skincare products—lip balm, hand, and face creams. Additional comforts include slippers, a shoehorn, and a hairbrush. Each seat is equipped with a plush pillow and a thick, signature Korean Air blanket. Lavatories are stocked with extra amenities such as toothbrushes, shaving kits, and single-use mouthwash for added convenience.

On the Airbus A380, travelers can enjoy the exclusive Celestial Bar—a sophisticated lounge at the rear of the upper deck, offering a minimalist, contemporary space to socialize and savor premium cocktails above the clouds.

Short & Medium Haul

Korean Air’s short- and medium-haul Prestige Class—featured on the new Airbus A321neo fleet—delivers a boutique experience with eight custom-designed Collins Aerospace Diamond fully lie-flat seats in a 2-2 configuration. These seats offer advanced amenities, including wireless device charging, USB ports, upgraded inflight entertainment, and reliable Wi-Fi. The ongoing fleet expansion will see 30 A321neo aircraft in service by 2027, with 20 more on order.

For other regional routes, Business Class on Boeing 737s features spacious reclining seats in a 2-2 arrangement, though these are not fully flat. The A220 fleet remains all-economy with no Business Class offering.

Sustainability

Korean Air is accelerating its sustainability efforts by investing in next-generation aircraft such as the Boeing 787-9 and Airbus A321neo, renowned for their fuel efficiency. The airline pioneered the use of sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) in Korea and, since 2021, has partnered with SK Energy to supply carbon-neutral jet fuel. Single-use plastics have largely been replaced by eco-friendly alternatives, and the airline continues to support reforestation in Mongolia and China’s Kubuqi Desert.

Innovation is at the forefront—Korean Air employs coordinated drone teams to inspect aircraft, a breakthrough that reduces inspection times by up to 60% and detects even 1mm defects, setting a new global standard for aviation maintenance.

Korean Air’s upcycling program offers unique products crafted from retired aircraft and uniforms. Since 2021, the airline has transformed decommissioned Boeing 777 components and cabin vests into collectible items, such as eco-friendly cosmetic pouches available on its e-Skyshop.

Our Businessclass flight search includes CO2 emission data for every route, rewarding flights operated by the most modern, sustainable aircraft in our scoring system.
