Established in 1993, Oman Air has evolved from a modest regional operator into the Sultanate’s premier international airline, consistently earning accolades such as the World Travel Awards’ ‘Middle East’s Leading Airline – First Class 2024’. As a boutique carrier, Oman Air stands out for its personalized service and distinctive Omani hospitality, carving a niche among luxury travelers seeking exclusivity in the Middle East.
Operating from Muscat International Airport, Oman Air connects travelers to nearly 50 destinations worldwide. Direct routes encompass European capitals such as London, Paris, Frankfurt, Milan, and Zürich; key Gulf cities including Riyadh, Doha, Abu Dhabi, Dubai, Bahrain, and Kuwait; major Asian hubs like Bangkok, Singapore, and Kuala Lumpur; as well as leading cities across the Indian subcontinent, including New Delhi, Goa, and Mumbai.
The airline maintains a modern fleet of more than 50 aircraft, featuring the Boeing 787 Dreamliner and Airbus A330 for long-haul operations. Oman Air’s aircraft are instantly recognizable, adorned with their signature white and blue livery and the golden frankincense swirl—an homage to Oman’s storied incense heritage.
While Oman Air is not a member of any major alliance, its extensive code-share agreements with industry leaders such as KLM Royal Dutch Airlines, Qatar Airways, Lufthansa, Etihad Airways, and Malaysia Airlines enhance connectivity and streamline the travel experience. These partnerships facilitate seamless itineraries, integrated baggage handling, lounge access, and coordinated seating for connecting flights.
The Sindbad frequent flyer program offers three elite tiers—Blue, Silver, and Gold—providing a progressive suite of privileges. Members accrue miles not only on Oman Air flights but also through a curated portfolio of partners in banking, hospitality, car rentals, and telecommunications. Sindbad miles can be redeemed for complimentary tickets, upgrades, duty-free shopping, and exclusive lifestyle experiences, making it a compelling choice for discerning travelers.
Airport experience
Muscat International Airport, Oman’s primary aviation gateway, is located in Seeb, approximately 32 kilometers from the historic heart of Muscat. The airport’s state-of-the-art passenger terminal—opened in 2018—remains a benchmark for design and security, blending Omani architectural motifs with leading-edge technology, including the world’s inaugural operational drone defense system at a major airport.
Oman Air’s First Class Lounge, perched on the 5th floor, rivals the world’s most exclusive airport retreats. The space exudes understated opulence, with rich Arabic influences and a soothing palette of browns and gold. Guests can indulge in both a gourmet buffet and an à la carte menu, enjoy rare spirits at the private bar (featuring a curated whisky collection), relax in the spa, or retreat to serene nap suites and private showers.
With Oman Air operating a select number of First Class flights daily, the lounge remains a tranquil oasis, often with only a handful of guests enjoying attentive, personalized service. When it’s time to board, a dedicated escort ensures a seamless transition from lounge to aircraft—a signature touch that elevates the pre-flight experience.
For premium travelers departing Bangkok, Oman Air offers its own dedicated lounge. At other international airports, guests benefit from access to partner airline lounges or premium third-party facilities, ensuring consistency in comfort and amenities worldwide.

Cabin & Seat
Oman Air’s First Class experience is reserved for select routes, notably Muscat to London, Frankfurt, and Bangkok, operated by its Boeing 787-9 Dreamliners. Each aircraft offers just eight private First Class Suites arranged in a 1-2-1 configuration, ensuring exclusivity and a boutique feel. While some Airbus A330-300s still feature First Class cabins, these are being phased out, and First Class is no longer actively sold on those aircraft as of 2025.
The Boeing 787-9 First Class Suite is a masterclass in modern luxury, seamlessly blending Omani artistry—such as Islamic arches—with sleek contemporary finishes. The absence of overhead bins above the suites creates an airy, uncluttered environment, with attentive crew managing all carry-on storage.
The seat offers exceptional customization, featuring electronic controls for lumbar support, recline, legrest, and seat pan, as well as a memory function for your preferred settings. The generous 25.5-inch (65 cm) seat width and 85.5-inch (217 cm) pitch convert to a fully flat 82-inch (208 cm) bed. An advanced eight-point massage system is built in for added comfort.
Each suite is enclosed by tall, softly gliding doors and a privacy canopy behind the headrest. Center suites are equipped with movable dividers, giving travelers full control over their environment at the touch of a button.
Thoughtful storage abounds, including a wardrobe for jackets, ample pockets for essentials, and dedicated space for cabin baggage. A chilled minibar—stocked with premium soft drinks and snacks—is within arm’s reach, and unlike many competitors, Oman Air’s minibar is reliably cold. Personalization is at your fingertips via intuitive touchscreen controls at each seat.

Cuisine
Dining in Oman Air First Class is a refined affair, with an on-demand à la carte menu—Savor—showcasing Omani, Middle Eastern, and global flavors. The caviar service is elegantly presented, and the wine list is expertly curated, featuring award-winning labels and rare vintages. Meals are served on bespoke Narumi porcelain, amplifying the sense of occasion.
Signature menu items include Iranian Beluga caviar, baked cod sayadia, chicken breast stuffed with spinach and pine nuts in saffron cream, thyme-infused grilled beef fillet, and paneer jalfrezi. The bread selection, artisanal cheeses, and decadent desserts round out the meal, offering something for every palate.
A distinctive detail: pepper is freshly ground tableside from an oversized mill—a nod to fine dining traditions.
The suite’s expansive table and ottoman seat allow for true restaurant-style dining, so guests can comfortably share a meal face-to-face if desired.
The service is entirely on your schedule, ensuring a personalized, leisurely dining journey at 40,000 feet.

Beverages
Pre-flight, guests are welcomed with Omani coffee, premium dates, a refreshing hot towel, and gourmet mixed nuts. A glass of Champagne or a chilled beverage is offered to set the tone for the journey ahead.
Oman Air’s First Class wine cellar features two top-tier Champagnes, which rotate by route. Recent offerings include Charles Heidsieck Blanc des Millénaires and Piper-Heidsieck Rare Millésime, complemented by choices such as Billecart-Salmon Brut Rosé.
The beverage menu extends to DAMMAN Frères specialty teas, Illy espresso and coffee, an array of fresh juices and mineral waters, as well as bespoke cocktails and mocktails. Whether you crave a classic Mojito or a revitalizing fruit blend, the onboard bar is ready to accommodate your preferences.

Service
Gulf carriers are synonymous with world-class service, and Oman Air is no exception. The airline places a strong emphasis on Omani hospitality, with a significant proportion of cabin crew hailing from the Sultanate itself. During our travels, we found the crew to be both impeccably trained and genuinely warm—proficient in English and always eager to anticipate every need. Service begins with a formal touch and naturally evolves into a warm, relaxed rapport over the course of the flight.
Cabin crew uniforms, refreshed in 2019, remain strikingly modern, with vibrant turquoise hues inspired by the Sea of Oman. Female attendants don elegant dinner jackets while male stewards are attired in tailored suits, contributing to an atmosphere of understated sophistication throughout the cabin.

Entertainment
Oman Air’s ARIA inflight entertainment platform features a comprehensive selection of new-release films, popular TV series, and curated music playlists, all displayed on a generous 23-inch (58 cm) high-definition screen. The interactive moving map allows for detailed route tracking and destination previews.
Connectivity options are abundant, with dual USB ports, an Ethernet connection, a wireless IFE controller (plus backup), RCA jacks, and a universal power outlet for laptops. While noise-cancelling headphones are provided, audiophiles may find the audio quality serviceable but not exceptional compared to industry leaders.
Complimentary Wi-Fi is available for First Class guests on Boeing 787 and Airbus A330 aircraft, with three hours of free access or up to 100 MB of data, supporting both business and leisure needs at altitude.

Amenities & Facilities
Oman Air has recently elevated its First Class amenity offering, now featuring quilted duvets, plush silk-trimmed pillows, and premium cotton pajamas with matching slippers. The amenity kits—created in partnership with Amouage, Oman’s world-renowned fragrance house—are thoughtfully curated with generously sized skincare and wellness products. Both men’s and women’s kits include the essentials: dental set, mouthwash, silk eye mask, hairbrush, socks, and earplugs. The women’s kit is enhanced with a vanity set, while the men’s version includes a shaving kit.
The signature Amouage fragrances, typically bold, are presented in subtle, travel-friendly formulations exclusive to Oman Air.
Throughout the flight, guests are offered hot or cold towels at regular intervals for added comfort and refreshment.

Short & Medium Haul
First Class is not available on Oman Air’s short- and medium-haul routes. For these journeys, Business Class is the highest cabin offered. Oman Air primarily deploys Boeing 737-800, 737-900, and 737 MAX 8 aircraft on these sectors, occasionally supplemented by wide-body jets. Business Class on the Boeing 737 fleet features spacious recliner seats in a 2-2 configuration, delivering comfort and attentive service for regional flights.
Sustainability
Oman Air is proactively addressing environmental challenges by implementing a suite of sustainability initiatives. The airline is increasing its focus on local procurement, optimizing energy efficiency, and phasing in new-generation aircraft for both short- and long-haul operations. The adoption of Boeing 787 Dreamliners and the latest Airbus models enables up to a 20% reduction in carbon emissions compared to previous-generation jets. Oman Air continues to invest in waste reduction, responsible sourcing, and industry-leading fuel efficiency as part of its ongoing commitment to eco-conscious aviation.
