Review of Singapore Airlines Business Class

Singapore Airlines Business Class continues to set the global benchmark for premium air travel. Recognized internationally for its exceptional hospitality, meticulous attention to detail, and timeless style, Singapore Airlines delivers a business class experience that consistently garners top industry accolades and frequent flyer loyalty. The airline’s iconic service philosophy has become legendary, with the brand often cited as the gold standard in airline excellence.

With an expansive global route network connecting North America, Europe, Asia, Australia, and New Zealand, Singapore Airlines is a preferred choice for discerning travelers seeking seamless connections and elevated comfort.

As a founding member of Star Alliance, Singapore Airlines enables KrisFlyer members to earn and redeem miles across a wide portfolio of partners, including United, Lufthansa, Swiss International Air Lines, TAP Air Portugal, and EVA Air. This connectivity ensures effortless travel and enhanced value for frequent flyers. The KrisFlyer program remains one of the most rewarding options for global travelers not already enrolled in another Star Alliance loyalty scheme.

Singapore Airlines distinguishes itself as one of the first major international carriers to offer unlimited complimentary Wi-Fi for all Business Class passengers, a move that cements its position as a technological leader in 2025.

Airport experience

Those beginning their journey in Singapore are treated to exclusive check-in zones at the world-renowned Changi Airport, which continues to win awards for its futuristic amenities. Arrive early to enjoy unparalleled airport experiences like the famed Jewel complex, immersive gardens, a rooftop pool, and a cinema—each curated to delight travelers before takeoff.

One unique aspect of Changi is that security screening is performed at each departure gate. For this reason, it’s advisable to reach your gate earlier than you might elsewhere, as fast-track options are only available at select gates.

Singapore Airlines operates seven lounges at Changi, with both Terminal 2 and Terminal 3 boasting state-of-the-art SilverKris Business Class lounges. Star Alliance Gold travelers can also access KrisFlyer Gold lounges, but the SilverKris lounges offer enhanced amenities and are highly recommended. The latest multi-million-dollar renovations, completed in 2025, have introduced contemporary interiors, expanded relaxation zones, and innovative dining concepts throughout the lounge network.

Within the SilverKris Business Class lounges, guests enjoy complimentary Champagne, a curated wine and cocktail bar, and a diverse buffet featuring international cuisine. Live cooking stations serve up local favorites like Singapore laksa. Additional perks include private shower suites, high-speed Wi-Fi, business centers, and ample charging points for all devices.

Outside Singapore, the airline maintains its own premium lounges in ten major cities including London, Sydney, and Bangkok. Most Singapore Airlines lounges feature signature touches such as artisanal ice cream, popular among families and younger travelers.

Where Singapore Airlines does not operate its own lounge, Business Class guests are granted access to premium facilities run by Star Alliance partners. Priority boarding is consistently offered to Business Class, ensuring a swift and comfortable start to every journey.

Cabin & Seat

Singapore Airlines stands apart by commissioning bespoke Business Class seats for its widebody fleet, ensuring a unique and elevated experience on every long-haul journey. The current fleet features two distinct seat designs: one for the Airbus A350-900 and Boeing 777-300ER, and another for the flagship Airbus A380. Across all aircraft, the seats are upholstered in premium leather, with the A380 showcasing hand-stitched full-grain leather by Poltrona Frau.

On the A350-900 and Boeing 777-300ER, Business Class seats remain among the most generous in the industry, stretching up to 195 cm (6'4") in length and 71 cm (28") in width. The expansive design even allows a parent and small child to sit together. Each seat is equipped with multiple storage solutions, universal power outlets, and a large 18-inch high-definition entertainment screen. The unique flip-over bed mechanism, while requiring passengers to briefly stand, unveils a mattress topper for superior sleep comfort. In lie-flat mode, the bed is exceptionally wide, though the angled footwell may require some adjustment for taller passengers. Crew are always on hand to assist with seat conversion.

The A380’s latest Business Class seat transforms into a fully flat bed with effortless recline, eliminating the need to stand. While slightly narrower at 63.5 cm (25"), it remains exceptionally comfortable. Center seats on the A380 can be converted into a double bed, ideal for couples traveling together, while privacy dividers provide seclusion for solo travelers.

All seats feature large side tables and easily accessible tray tables, perfect for both work and dining. Each seat comes with a plush pillow, blanket, and noise-cancelling headphones. Cabin sizes vary, so for a quieter experience, select a smaller cabin section—though be mindful of bassinet locations, as these are often reserved for families with infants.

Singapore Airlines allows complimentary advance seat selection for all Business Class travelers. Bulkhead seats, which offer noticeably more legroom and space, are highly sought after and comparable to First Class seats on many other airlines.

The Businessclass flight search tool features seat maps, images, and videos for most aircraft, detailing seat pitch, width, and recline. This enables travelers to make informed decisions about cabin configuration before booking.

Cuisine

Singapore Airlines has earned global acclaim for its sophisticated inflight dining, with menus frequently tailored to the departure city. An elite International Culinary Panel of world-class chefs consults on menu development, ensuring diverse and elegant cuisine across all routes.

Since 2020, the airline has transitioned away from printed menus in favor of digital platforms, accessible via the Singapore Airlines Digital Menu System and the KrisWorld entertainment suite. Menus and wine lists are available for preview up to eight days before departure, reflecting the airline’s commitment to sustainability and digital innovation.

The celebrated Book the Cook service allows Business Class passengers to pre-select from an extensive array of chef-designed main courses. This is available on nearly all flights from Singapore and more than 30 international gateways. Lobster Thermidor remains a perennial favorite, but menus also feature Singaporean, Western, Indian, Malay, and Thai options, alongside lighter fare under the Deliciously Wholesome label. Children are treated to their own YUMMY! menu, designed to delight younger travelers.

On most long-haul sectors, the meal service begins with a traditional satay trolley—succulent chicken and lamb skewers with rich peanut sauce, prepared in Singapore and delivered fresh to every flight. This signature touch is a hallmark of the Singapore Airlines dining experience.

Following the satay, tables are set with fine Narumi porcelain, polished silverware, and crisp white linen, eschewing trays for a restaurant-quality presentation. The bread basket is a highlight, with the airline’s signature garlic bread especially popular among frequent flyers. Main courses are plated individually in the galley, with desserts ranging from pastries and cakes to gourmet ice cream and curated cheese selections. Singapore Airlines sources much of its produce locally, supporting sustainable farm-to-plane initiatives.

On overnight and ultra-long-haul flights, the meal service is thoughtfully abbreviated to maximize rest, though timing can be variable. Cabin crew are always attentive to special requests and flexible with meal delivery upon request.

Pre-arrival dining options are tailored to the time and destination, featuring a mix of traditional breakfasts and hearty lunch or dinner choices. Special dietary and religious meal requests are always accommodated with advance notice.

Mid-flight snacks are available on demand, either from a dedicated menu or self-serve options in the galley. The crew’s proactive and personalized approach ensures every culinary need is met, reinforcing Singapore Airlines’ reputation for world-class service.

Marking special occasions, Singapore Airlines offers complimentary cakes for birthdays, honeymoons, and anniversaries—complete with a hand-signed card from the crew. Orders must be placed at least 24 hours in advance.

For select departures from the UK, renowned chef and TV personality Monica Galetti continues to curate bespoke seasonal menus in partnership with the airline, infusing her South Pacific heritage and recipes from her acclaimed London restaurant, Mere.

Pro tip: Don’t miss the gourmet noodle options from the Delectables menu—these can be ordered in place of a main meal and are a highlight for noodle aficionados.

Beverages

Every Singapore Airlines Business Class journey begins with a welcome beverage—often a choice between Champagne, fresh juice, or still water.

The airline’s curated beverage program features a rotating selection of fine wines, with current vintages including the coveted Piper-Heidsieck Brut and a mix of old and new world varietals. Wines from Australia and New Zealand, key markets for Singapore Airlines, are always represented on the list. The airline’s commitment to quality is regularly recognized by Skytrax and Business Traveller awards.

The cocktail menu is highlighted by the iconic Singapore Sling, but for a refreshing twist, ask for the off-menu SilverKris Sling—an elegant blend of orange and pineapple juice, gin, Grand Marnier, and a Champagne topper. A range of mocktails is also available for those preferring non-alcoholic options.

Beer lovers will find a global selection, while soft drinks and premium juices round out the offerings. Orange juice is notably fresh and vibrant, a small but appreciated detail for frequent flyers.

After the main meal, guests are offered gourmet coffee and a selection of TWG teas, accompanied by fine pralines. Coffee connoisseurs can choose from 12 different Illy blends, including single-origin and specialty roasts, all available hot or iced. The tea menu features 16 varieties, with nine sourced directly from TWG, Singapore’s luxury tea brand.

The Businessclass flight search tool provides up-to-date details on Champagne and beverage offerings in premium cabins. If you notice a new vintage or label, let us know so we can keep our listings current.

Service

Singapore Airlines’ cabin crew are instantly recognizable in their elegant sarong kebaya uniforms—each color signifying the wearer’s rank and years of service. Male crew members’ ties are similarly coded. Designed by Pierre Balmain in 1968, the uniform remains a timeless symbol of the airline’s commitment to gracious hospitality. The Singapore Girl is a celebrated brand ambassador, featured in marketing campaigns and recognized worldwide for her poise and warmth.

During our recent flights, we consistently experienced attentive, personalized service from crew who took the time to learn and address passengers by name. Whether on a regional hop or a 14-hour ultra-long-haul, the team’s impeccable grooming and tireless dedication to guest comfort never wavered. Maintaining such high standards over long sectors is a testament to their extensive training and passion for service excellence.

Entertainment

Business Class travelers enjoy high-fidelity noise-cancelling headphones paired with expansive HD screens, delivering an immersive KrisWorld entertainment experience. The system offers nearly 1,000 choices, from blockbuster films and international cinema to full TV box sets, documentaries, and family programming.

The Singapore Airlines mobile app lets passengers sync their devices with KrisWorld even before departure, enabling them to personalize playlists, bookmark favorites, and pick up where they left off mid-flight or on future journeys.

Families are well catered to, with a robust selection of cartoons and children’s series. For binge-watchers, extensive box sets of popular dramas and sitcoms are available.

The in-seat pocket includes the latest edition of SilverKris magazine. Complimentary unlimited Wi-Fi is now standard in Business Class, reflecting the airline’s ongoing investment in digital innovation. Additional data packages are available for those with higher usage requirements.

Singapore Airlines’ signature soundscape, The Sound of Singapore Airlines, continues to set the mood onboard with specially composed boarding, landing, and lounge music, refreshed for a modern audience in 2025.

The Businessclass flight search tool provides up-to-date information on inflight entertainment systems and Wi-Fi connectivity.

Amenities & Facilities

Historically, Singapore Airlines refrained from distributing amenity kits in Business Class, prioritizing sustainability and reducing single-use waste. This policy evolved in 2020 with the introduction of an exclusive Penhaligon’s amenity kit. In 2023, the airline refreshed its offering to feature LUNA-branded lip balm, facial mist, and hand lotion. Additional essentials such as dental kits, razors, and combs are always available in the lavatories. Socks, eye masks, and slippers are placed at each seat, with larger slipper sizes available upon request.

Signature hot towels, infused with the airline’s bespoke Florida Water fragrance, are provided before departure and throughout the flight, adding a sensory touch to the service ritual.

Families traveling with infants benefit from pre-reserved bassinets at select bulkhead seats, with a generous weight limit of 14 kg—more accommodating than many competitors. Young travelers receive age-appropriate toys, including collectible teddy bear pairs that change every six months. These have become sought-after keepsakes among both children and adult collectors, and are available on request.

Short & Medium Haul

Singapore Airlines defines flights under six hours as regional, with tailored aircraft and service levels for these routes. While some short- and medium-haul flights utilize long-haul-configured aircraft, the majority are operated by a specialized regional fleet featuring a mix of seating types. Most regional flights now offer lie-flat seats, with new Boeing 737-8 jets boasting 10 lie-flat Business Class seats in a staggered 2-2/1-1 layout. A few Boeing 737-800s still provide 12 traditional recliners in a 2-2 configuration, while the Airbus A350-900 and Boeing 787-10 are equipped with lie-flat seats in a 1-2-1 arrangement. These regional seats offer slightly less width than their long-haul counterparts but maintain a high level of comfort.

Depending on flight duration, food and beverage service is streamlined but still impressive. The digital menu system details all available options, and the popular Book the Cook service remains accessible on most regional flights. Champagne service continues, though some shorter routes feature Ernest Rapeneau Brut in place of the flagship labels found on long-haul services.

Sustainability

Singapore Airlines is a recognized leader in aviation sustainability, with a comprehensive strategy focused on reducing environmental impact. The airline remains steadfast in its commitment to halve carbon emissions by 2050, leveraging the latest-generation, fuel-efficient aircraft and optimizing flight operations. Singapore Airlines is a core participant in the Asia and Pacific Initiative to Reduce Emissions (ASPIRE) and offers passengers the ability to offset their carbon footprint through a dedicated carbon offset program.

Solar panels installed across all Singapore-based office buildings now supply approximately 18% of the company’s total electricity needs. Since 2010, Singapore Airlines has been an active supporter of the Hutan Harapan Initiative, which works to restore nearly 100,000 hectares of endangered rainforest in Sumatra, Indonesia.

The Businessclass flight search displays CO2 emissions for each flight, with quality scores favoring the most modern, eco-friendly aircraft in the industry.
