Dubai International Airport, consistently ranked among the world’s premier global aviation hubs, has expanded its annual passenger capacity from 75 million to 90 million with the launch of the cutting-edge Concourse D.
The impressive $1.2 billion facility, now serving as a gateway for over 70 international carriers, opened its doors with the arrival of British Airways flight 105 from London, greeted by the traditional water cannon salute to mark the milestone occasion.

Following months of comprehensive operational readiness trials, including a live simulation with 2,000 volunteers, Concourse D commenced full operations seamlessly.
Paul Griffiths, CEO of Dubai Airports, shared, “Concourse D is a testament to our commitment to customer-focused innovation and timely infrastructure expansion. With this addition, Dubai International continues to set new benchmarks in passenger experience and operational excellence.” Current projections place annual passenger numbers at over 90 million, solidifying DXB’s status as a leader in global connectivity.

Designed around a spacious central atrium, Concourse D is directly connected to Terminal 1 via a high-capacity airport train, comfortably moving up to 300 travelers per journey. The intuitive layout ensures minimal walking distances, enabling swift and effortless boarding directly from the contemporary waiting lounges.
Travelers can indulge in over 7,000m2 of world-class duty-free retail, an eclectic selection of upscale dining venues, and rejuvenation concepts such as ‘Be Relax’ spa and the innovative ‘SnoozeCubes’ sleeping pods.
Premium passengers enjoy exclusive access to nine sophisticated lounges, including British Airways’ flagship lounge for Club World and First Class, the refined Al Majlis lounge, two Dubai International Hotel lounges, and the renowned Marhaba VIP lounge.

On the airside, Concourse D features 21 contact gates—four of which are equipped to handle the Airbus A380 and Boeing 747—alongside 11 remote stands, supporting a throughput of up to 18 million travelers annually.
Both British Airways and Royal Jordanian commenced operations at Concourse D from day one, with additional partner airlines progressively transitioning to the new facility, further enhancing DXB’s global reach.
