AccorHotels opens MGallery by Sofitel and Mama Shelter in Rio de Janeiro

AccorHotels has elevated its luxury presence in Brazil with the launch of two signature properties in Rio de Janeiro: Hotel Santa Teresa MGallery by Sofitel and Mama Shelter Rio de Janeiro.

Both hotels are nestled in the vibrant Santa Teresa district, celebrated for its bohemian flair, lively street festivals, and deep-rooted artistic heritage. Set atop the hillside, guests are treated to sweeping vistas of Rio’s dynamic skyline, dotted with Art Deco gems, vivid murals, and captivating mosaic parks—a true immersion in the city’s creative energy.

The Hotel Santa Teresa Rio de Janeiro MGallery by Sofitel showcases a curated collaboration with renowned local artists and designers. Featuring 43 bespoke rooms, the acclaimed Tereze restaurant, a tranquil spa with an outdoor pool, and breathtaking city panoramas, the property embodies refined Brazilian hospitality. Mama Shelter Rio de Janeiro, now an established favorite since its opening, marked the brand’s energetic debut in Brazil, infusing playful design and a social spirit.

“Bringing MGallery and Mama Shelter to Brazil, especially to Santa Teresa, allowed us to capture the neighborhood’s unique ‘tropical chic’ personality,” shares Patrick Mendes, CEO of AccorHotels South America. “Santa Teresa’s creative community, reminiscent of Paris’ Montmartre, aligns perfectly with our brands’ ethos. AccorHotels’ robust digital infrastructure and sustainable approach ensure we contribute positively to the cultural tapestry of this iconic Rio neighborhood.”

As of 2025, AccorHotels operates over 35 properties across Rio de Janeiro, continuing to reinforce its leadership in Brazil’s luxury and lifestyle hospitality sector.
