Air Berlin offers ‘XL seats’ with extra leg room

Air Berlin, recognized as Germany’s second-largest carrier, has introduced ‘XL seats’ across its entire fleet of A330s, setting a new standard for Economy Class comfort on long-haul journeys. Each aircraft now features five dedicated rows of XL seats, offering travelers an additional 5cm of personal space, designed to deliver a noticeably more spacious in-flight experience.

Available for flights exceeding six hours, these XL seats are strategically positioned at the front of the Economy cabin. The increased legroom is particularly beneficial for families, pregnant passengers, and those with reduced mobility, ensuring easier boarding and swift disembarkation.

Travelers can secure seats featuring a generous 15cm of extra legroom via Air Berlin’s official website or through authorized travel agents. As of 2025, the cost remains competitive, and these seats are complimentary for those booking the premium FlyFlex fare category.

Thomas Ney

, Senior Vice President of Hospitality and Operations, commented: “Our XL seats are a testament to Air Berlin’s dedication to elevating passenger comfort and enhancing our Economy Class offering. We are proud to extend a superior travel experience on all our long-haul routes.”

Frequent flyers enrolled in Air Berlin’s ‘topbonus’ program can redeem their miles for XL seat upgrades, while topbonus Gold and Platinum members enjoy complimentary XL seating as part of their elite benefits, reinforcing Air Berlin’s commitment to rewarding loyal customers.
