Lufthansa elevates family travel with imaginative meals designed to delight children

Starting this summer, Lufthansa is enhancing the onboard experience for its youngest passengers with a fresh selection of playful and nutritious meals. Esteemed two-Michelin-star chef Alexander Herrmann has reimagined the children’s menu, introducing creative dishes such as rice pudding mice, dragon feet, and hen houses. These specially designed meals are available on all Lufthansa long-haul services and extended European routes departing from Germany, reflecting the airline’s ongoing commitment to family-friendly luxury.

Earlier this year, a panel of thirteen children aged four to nine participated in an exclusive tasting event, sampling a diverse array of chef-crafted meals prepared by the LSG culinary team. Favorites like the dragon feet—succulent poultry sausages paired with creamy mashed potatoes and tangy sauerkraut—and the rice pudding mouse, an artful blend of vanilla rice pudding and sweet raspberries, were chosen based on the children’s enthusiastic feedback. Chef Herrmann guided the process, ensuring every dish balanced fun presentation with high-quality ingredients.

Chef Herrmann, renowned for his culinary expertise showcased on German television and at his acclaimed restaurants in Nuremberg and Wirsberg, brings his passion for fostering healthy eating habits to the skies. Through his innovative approach, Herrmann continues to inspire families to discover the joy of wholesome cuisine, both at his Franconian cooking school and now at 35,000 feet.

These bespoke children’s menus can be pre-ordered without additional charge for all Lufthansa long-haul flights and select extended European services for guests under twelve, up to 24 hours before departure, ensuring a seamless and enjoyable inflight dining experience for the entire family.
