Bid to upgrade your SAS flight

Bid to upgrade your SAS flight

Travelers flying with SAS can now enhance their journey by participating in the SAS Upgrade bidding system, an exclusive program that allows passengers to vie for a seat in SAS Plus or SAS Business. This innovative service, available on routes across the USA, Asia, Europe, and the Nordic region, offers a seamless path to greater comfort and premium amenities.

With SAS Upgrade, you set your own bid for an upgrade—using either EuroBonus points or your preferred payment card. This flexible approach empowers travelers to determine the value of a premium experience, whether that means expedited airport services, lounge access, or the luxury of a lie-flat sleeper seat on long-haul flights. The highest eligible bids are awarded the upgrades, making the process both transparent and competitive.

"At SAS, we continuously seek to elevate our customers’ journeys," shares Stephanie Smitt Lindberg, VP Customer Journey at SAS. "Through SAS Upgrade, we’re expanding access to our top-tier products, letting more travelers enjoy the best of SAS at a value that suits them."

Upgrades can be paid for using EuroBonus points as well as major credit cards. Notably, passengers can now redeem points for upgrades on domestic and European routes, a feature that was recently introduced. Another advantage: points earned from your original booking are retained, and you’ll accrue additional EuroBonus points for the upgraded segment—a rewarding bonus for frequent flyers.

Eligible travelers can submit their bids immediately after booking, right up to 48 hours prior to departure. Acceptance notifications are sent by email 36 hours before takeoff, and payment is only processed upon successful upgrade confirmation. Bids can be adjusted or withdrawn up to the 48-hour cut-off, offering maximum flexibility.

Upgrading to SAS Plus unlocks a suite of benefits, including Fast Track security, entry to SAS Lounges (featuring high-speed Wi-Fi, gourmet snacks, curated beverages, and workspaces), enhanced onboard dining, and increased EuroBonus accrual.

Opting for SAS Business elevates the experience even further, with access to fully lie-flat sleeper seats, premium amenity kits, multi-course onboard dining crafted by renowned chefs, and even higher EuroBonus rewards.

The streamlined SAS Upgrade portal, accessible at www.flysas.com/upgrade, incorporates the latest in digital innovation for a user-friendly, secure, and efficient upgrade bidding experience.

Powered by Plusgrade, SAS Upgrade has fully replaced the previous Optiontown system. For those looking for last-minute opportunities, upgrades at the airport are still available from 22 hours before departure, subject to availability.
