British Airways To Serve New Coffee In First And Business Class

British Airways now offers a curated Union Hand-Roasted Coffee experience in all UK lounges and across its First and Club World cabins, setting a new standard for gourmet coffee at altitude.

In collaboration with award-winning London-based roaster Union Hand-Roasted Coffee, British Airways delivers a bespoke brew crafted specifically for the nuances of high-altitude service, available both pre-flight and onboard.

Union Hand-Roasted Coffee, recognized as one of the UK’s most respected specialty roasters, has designed an exclusive blend for the airline that retains its rich flavor profile even at cruising altitude—an impressive feat considering the challenges of taste perception at 35,000 feet.

This medium roast, ethically sourced from sustainable farms in Peru, features distinct notes of dark chocolate, toasted pecan, and smooth caramel, ensuring a refined palate experience for discerning travelers.

British Airways’ Director of Customer Experience, Sarah Klatt-Walsh, emphasized the airline’s holistic approach to its ongoing £7 billion customer investment program, highlighting that exceptional hospitality is as much about thoughtful details as it is about flagship upgrades.

“For many of our guests, a perfectly brewed cup of coffee is the difference between a good journey and an exceptional one. We’ve meticulously tested Union’s blend under real flight conditions to guarantee that depth, complexity, and vibrancy of flavor shine through at altitude,” Klatt-Walsh shared in a recent statement.

As part of this initiative, all UK lounge coffee stations have been redesigned to showcase Union’s diverse offerings and commitment to ethical sourcing, including transparent origin information and sustainability practices.

British Airways has also elevated its lounge dining, now providing all-day hot meal options at both Heathrow and Gatwick. Guests can enjoy an enhanced array of vegan, vegetarian, and gluten-free dishes, such as organic soups and locally-inspired menus.

The airline’s multi-billion-pound investment continues to drive innovative enhancements, from the introduction of fully private Club Suites with direct aisle access to the integration of wellness-focused amenities in premium cabins, reaffirming British Airways’ position among the world’s leading full-service carriers.
