British Airways Unveils New B777 Cabins - With 10 Across In Economy!

British Airways has unveiled its thoroughly redesigned Boeing 777 cabins operating from Gatwick, introducing a denser 3-4-3 seating layout in World Traveller (Economy). This shift increases the seat count in each row to 10, reducing individual seat width by nearly 10 percent (approximately 1.5 inches) and reshaping the in-flight experience for long-haul travelers.

While the airline has highlighted ergonomic improvements in seat design, the additional seat per row results in 12 more seats in the World Traveller section. As a result, passengers may notice a more compact environment, especially on extended journeys.

This change is part of British Airways’ broader cost optimization strategy, following earlier decisions like transitioning to a buy-on-board model for short-haul catering, with a curated selection of premium snacks and meals for purchase.

World Traveller Plus

World Traveller Plus—British Airways’ premium economy product—features an updated seat with an enhanced leg and footrest, and a fully adjustable six-way headrest tailored to accommodate passengers of varying heights. The refreshed design also introduces a refined cocktail table and integrated tray tables for added convenience.

Both cabin classes benefit from new seating with 50% larger high-definition entertainment screens. Notably, the World Traveller Plus cabin in the three-class 777 configuration has more than doubled in capacity, responding to growing demand for premium leisure travel.

World Traveller seats are now equipped with an innovative six-way headrest, complete with adjustable side panels and repositionable armrests for personalized comfort.

A state-of-the-art Panasonic in-flight entertainment system offers quadruple the previous content selection, including films, series, and music. Passengers enjoy larger HD touchscreens with intuitive gesture controls, delivering a tablet-like browsing experience.

Screen size in World Traveller Plus has doubled from six to 12 inches, while World Traveller screens now measure 10 inches. Every seat features a USB charging port, and World Traveller Plus seats are fitted with universal power outlets compatible with UK, US, and EU plugs.

Ambient LED lighting has been installed throughout the aircraft, programmed to simulate natural daylight cycles. This bespoke lighting system is designed to promote restful sleep and gentler wake-ups, mitigating jet lag for international travelers.
