Cathay Pacific To Develop New First Class Suites And Business Class Seats

Cathay Pacific is preparing to introduce a new era of luxury travel, announcing the development of state-of-the-art first class suites and revamped regional business class seats, according to recent industry reports.

These innovative cabin products will premiere on the airline’s latest fleet additions, including the Airbus A321neo and the highly anticipated Boeing 777-9.

During our recent discussions with Cathay Pacific’s Head of Customer Experience & Design, Vivian Lo, we learned that while the airline is committed to redefining premium travel, specific details about the new first class and business class designs remain confidential as the concepts are finalized.

This Oneworld carrier, renowned for its hospitality and award-winning service, has also refreshed its ground experience in Hong Kong. Passengers can now enjoy The Deck lounge at Hong Kong International Airport, a sophisticated retreat conveniently located near Gate 16 in Terminal 1, replacing the former Dragonair lounge and setting new benchmarks for pre-flight comfort.

Looking ahead, Cathay Pacific’s next major enhancement focuses on the regional business class seat, debuting on its new Airbus A321neo aircraft. These jets, operated by the airline’s regional arm Cathay Dragon (formerly Dragonair), are part of a 32-aircraft order featuring advanced fuel efficiency and upgraded cabin comfort.

The upcoming business class seat, currently under development, is expected to offer an ergonomically designed recliner seat, prioritizing comfort for short- and medium-haul journeys while maximizing personal space. Vivian Lo confirmed that the seat will not be fully lie-flat, aligning with the needs and expectations of regional travelers.

After rolling out the new business class on the A321neo, Cathay Pacific will shift focus to unveiling its next-generation first class suites aboard the new Boeing 777-9 flagship. These technologically sophisticated aircraft will anchor the airline’s long-haul network, with deliveries beginning soon.

The final configuration of the new first class suites—whether featuring complete privacy with sliding doors or an open, airy layout—remains under active consideration as the airline weighs traveler preferences and the latest design trends. According to Vivian Lo, both options are being carefully evaluated to deliver an unparalleled first class experience for Cathay Pacific’s most discerning guests.
