Emirates To Introduce New 'Sleeperette' Premium Economy Seats

Emirates is elevating its Premium Economy experience with the introduction of an exclusive 'Sleeperette' seat—an innovation crafted to deliver superior comfort and support for discerning travelers.

This bespoke seating concept was meticulously developed following a global competition among leading seat manufacturers, each vying to bring Emirates’ vision for premium comfort to life.

Featuring a generous 38-inch seat pitch—providing up to 6 inches more legroom than standard economy—and an expansive 10-inch recline, the 'Sleeperette' is reminiscent of the comfort found in luxury rail carriages.

During our recent preview, Emirates' President Sir Tim Clark emphasized that the seat is engineered to fully support passengers’ legs and feet, offering a cradle-like experience with a deeply relaxing recline.

The design team has fine-tuned even the smallest ergonomic details, including advanced footrest options tailored to accommodate a wide range of body types, ensuring optimal support for all guests.

While the 'Sleeperette' delivers a "lazy-Z" lounging position for restorative rest, it does so without an enclosed shell, maintaining an open and airy feel in the cabin.

Emirates’ Premium Economy cabin is thoughtfully separated from Economy—not just by a curtain, but by a distinct layout and dedicated lavatories—creating a refined, tranquil environment for premium travelers.

Clark has reiterated that this new class is designed as a significant upgrade from Economy, not a pared-down Business Class. As such, lounge access is not included, in line with industry standards for premium economy offerings.
