Emirates soared to the top as the world’s premier airline at the renowned Skytrax World Airline Awards 2016.
Regarded as the industry’s gold standard for passenger satisfaction, the Skytrax awards are determined by the largest independent airline customer survey globally. For the 2016 edition, over 19.2 million verified travelers from 104+ countries evaluated 280 airlines, making it the most comprehensive passenger-driven airline ranking.
This accolade marks Emirates’ fourth win as the world’s best airline since the award’s inception 15 years ago, previously taking the top spot in 2001, 2002, and 2013. To date, Emirates has amassed a total of 20 distinct Skytrax honors since 2001, underscoring its legacy of innovation and guest satisfaction.
“Being recognized by the Skytrax awards is a tremendous honor. At Emirates, we remain dedicated to placing our guests at the center of every decision. We continually invest in elevating our onboard and ground experiences, striving to not only meet but surpass our passengers’ expectations. Receiving such recognition directly from our valued customers is a testament to the dedication and passion of the entire Emirates team,” shared Sir Tim Clark, President of Emirates Airline, in the official announcement.
Emirates was also distinguished for offering the World’s Best Inflight Entertainment—an achievement it has held for a record 12 years in a row—and was again named Best Airline in the Middle East.
Qatar Airways ranked second worldwide, while also earning distinctions for World’s Best Business Class, Best Business Class Lounge, and Best Airline Staff in the Middle East. Singapore Airlines secured third place, and was awarded Best Airline in Asia and Best Business Class Seat.
