Etihad Airways has elevated its Economy Class experience with the rollout of Economy Space—an upgraded seating option across its long-haul fleet, designed to offer travelers more flexibility and greater comfort on extended journeys.
As of 2025, Etihad has fully retrofitted its fleet of 10 Airbus A380s to include Economy Space seats, boasting an impressive seat pitch of up to 36 inches. This innovation has quadrupled the number of extra legroom seats per A380, increasing from 20 to 80, and has quickly become a favorite among frequent flyers seeking additional space.
Jamal Ahmed Al Awadhi, Etihad Airways’ Head of Guest Experience, shared: “We understand that modern travelers have diverse preferences, and our goal is to deliver tailored options that reflect their evolving needs for personalization and comfort.”
Beyond the A380s, Etihad has also expanded Economy Space seating to 12 Boeing 777s and 21 Boeing 787 Dreamliners, ensuring that more passengers on key global routes can enjoy extra room and a more relaxed journey.
“While some carriers have opted to reduce space in economy cabins, our commitment remains focused on delivering superior comfort and a range of premium services that cater to every budget and travel style,” Mr. Al Awadhi continued.
Economy Space is particularly advantageous for families traveling with young children, seniors, and guests requiring mobility assistance, offering a more accessible and comfortable travel experience for all.
This new product seamlessly integrates with Etihad’s suite of customizable options, such as Neighbour-Free seating and an expanded buy-on-board menu, empowering guests to curate their in-flight experience according to their individual preferences.
