Etihad opens new lounge in Melbourne

Etihad Airways has elevated the pre-flight experience at Melbourne Airport with the debut of its sophisticated Premium Lounge in Terminal 2.

This state-of-the-art lounge, designed for discerning travelers, serves as a tranquil oasis to unwind, refresh, dine, work, or enjoy curated entertainment before departure. Its opening coincided with the introduction of Etihad’s iconic Airbus A380 service on the Melbourne-Abu Dhabi route, further enhancing the carrier’s premium offering in Australia.

Strategically located adjacent to gate 10, the lounge accommodates up to 133 guests, cementing its position as Etihad’s largest outpost outside its Abu Dhabi hub. Expansive floor-to-ceiling windows bathe the space in natural light and offer panoramic runway views, creating an inviting ambiance for both business and leisure travelers.

The culinary experience is a highlight, featuring a 26-seat restaurant area with both à la carte and buffet menus. Dishes are freshly prepared by expert chefs using premium, locally sourced ingredients that celebrate Victoria’s vibrant food scene.

The lounge’s striking bar is a focal point, boasting an extensive selection of regional Victorian wines and a curated collection of over 70 premium spirits and aperitifs, ensuring a memorable pre-flight toast.

Additional amenities include separate shower suites for men and women, private prayer rooms, a dedicated children’s play area, and a secure luggage storage facility. Complimentary high-speed WiFi, abundant power outlets, and USB charging points cater to the needs of modern travelers.

For guests flying in Etihad’s exclusive ‘The Residence’ on A380 services, a secluded Residence Lounge is discreetly situated near the main entrance. This ultra-private retreat features bespoke Poltrona Frau leather seating, a dedicated restroom, and a separate entrance, exemplifying the pinnacle of personalized luxury.

Both the main and Residence lounges open approximately three hours before each of Etihad’s twice-daily Melbourne-Abu Dhabi departures, ensuring guests have ample time to enjoy every amenity.

Shane O'Hare, Etihad Airways' Senior Vice President of Marketing, remarked, "The Melbourne Premium Lounge stands as a testament to our commitment to delivering unparalleled guest experiences. With the addition of our flagship A380 service, travelers on the Melbourne-Abu Dhabi route can expect an elevated journey from the moment they arrive at the airport."

Based on our firsthand visit, the Melbourne lounge builds on Etihad’s award-winning global lounge portfolio, offering a refined atmosphere and thoughtful details throughout. The Residence Lounge, in particular, promises an unmatched level of exclusivity, and we are eager to share a full review following an in-depth experience.

We also look forward to updating our readers on Etihad’s latest developments, including the refreshed First Class Lounge at Abu Dhabi International Airport and the enhanced First and Business Class Lounge at Los Angeles, both of which are now welcoming guests in 2025.
