Experience An Opera-Themed Afternoon Tea At The Jumeirah Carlton Tower In London

In celebration of the Victoria and Albert Museum’s acclaimed exhibition, Opera: Passion, Power and Politics, the five-star Jumeirah Carlton Tower in Knightsbridge presents an exclusive opera-themed afternoon tea.

Nestled in London’s prestigious Knightsbridge district, the Jumeirah Carlton Tower invites guests and visitors to indulge in a uniquely curated afternoon tea, inspired by the evocative world of opera and the celebrated V&A exhibition. This partnership offers a harmonious blend of culinary artistry and cultural immersion, all within moments of London’s renowned museum quarter.

The V&A’s exhibition traces the evolution of opera from its Italian Renaissance roots to its global influence today. Through the stories of seven pivotal premieres across Europe, visitors are transported through centuries of musical innovation and dramatic storytelling, culminating in opera’s vibrant presence in modern culture.

Within the serene Chinoiserie lounge at Jumeirah Carlton Tower, the Opera Afternoon Tea showcases an imaginative array of savouries and patisserie, each inspired by iconic opera houses and the cities highlighted in the V&A’s journey.

For those seeking an enhanced experience, the cocktail afternoon tea includes a signature Don Giovanni cocktail—crafted with Mozart chocolate liqueur, amaretto, and fresh cream—a coveted ticket to the Opera: Passion, Power and Politics exhibition, and a personal MP3 player loaded with arias from the featured operas, allowing guests to savour every bite accompanied by stirring music. The MP3 player is a keepsake for guests to enjoy beyond their visit.

The savoury menu features inventive bites such as mini croissants with Brie de Meaux and grape chutney (Paris), bruschetta with fontina, heirloom tomatoes, and basil (Milan), and beetroot-cured salmon on pumpernickel with quail egg (St. Petersburg).

Following these are refined desserts: an Earl Grey and prune crumble tart (London), Medovik honey cake (St. Petersburg), mascarpone panna cotta with limoncello jelly (Venice), and a decadent chocolate-praline gateau (Paris). Traditional scones, clotted cream, and house-made preserves, crafted by Executive Pastry Chef Louise Boschetti, complete this gourmet experience.

Set just off Sloane Street, the Jumeirah Carlton Tower places guests within an easy stroll of the V&A Museum, perfectly situated at the heart of London’s high-end shopping and cultural scene.

The Opera Afternoon Tea is served daily in the Chinoiserie lounge from 3pm to 6pm, priced at £45 per person or £55 for the cocktail-inclusive package, which features the exhibition ticket and the opera-themed MP3 player.
