Continuing its strategic network expansion, Finnair is set to significantly increase capacity on the highly trafficked Helsinki to London Heathrow route for the summer 2025 schedule. Responding to growing demand for premium connectivity between Northern Europe and the UK, Finnair is introducing an additional daily service operated by its efficient A320 family aircraft.
This new midday departure is designed to optimize onward connections for travelers utilizing Finnair’s oneworld alliance partners. The new flight is scheduled to leave Helsinki at 11:40, with the return sector departing London Heathrow at 13:50, offering seamless transfer opportunities to both European and long-haul destinations.
Further elevating the passenger experience, Finnair is also upgrading capacity on select frequencies by deploying the spacious Airbus A330 wide-body on its 16:00 Helsinki–London and 18:10 London–Helsinki flights. Compared to the previous A321 narrow-body, the A330 delivers over 50 additional seats per flight, enabling more travelers to enjoy Finnair’s award-winning service. The flagship A350 continues to operate the earliest morning rotation, ensuring that business and leisure passengers alike can begin their journeys in comfort and style.
For those connecting from London to Asia via Helsinki, Finnair’s enhanced schedule guarantees a fully integrated business class journey, featuring lie-flat seats and the airline’s renowned Nordic hospitality across both European and intercontinental sectors.
“London remains a cornerstone of our European network, and this capacity increase underscores our commitment to providing flexible, high-quality travel options for our customers,” says Christian Lesjak, Senior Vice President of Network and Resource Management at Finnair. “With the expanded midday frequency and additional wide-body service, we are able to offer greater choice and connectivity for both business and leisure travelers.”
Throughout the summer 2025 season, Finnair will operate up to seven daily flights between Helsinki and London Heathrow, including two daily wide-body services. These enhancements represent a substantial 21% boost in overall capacity on the route compared to previous summer operations, reinforcing Finnair’s position as a key premium carrier between Scandinavia and the UK.
