Forbes reveals this year's five-star rated hotels

Forbes Travel Guide has officially published its prestigious annual Star Ratings, spotlighting the world’s most exceptional luxury hotels for 2025.

This year’s rankings showcase 50 new five-star hotels, 120 newly minted four-star properties, and 65 hotels earning the "recommended" distinction. Paris continues to dominate the luxury hospitality scene, boasting ten five-star hotels, including the iconic Four Seasons Hotel George V, Paris; Le Meurice, Dorchester Collection; and Shangri-La Hotel, Paris—each renowned for their opulent ambiance and impeccable service.

In the United Kingdom, London’s celebrated hotel landscape welcomes The Goring as its latest five-star recipient,

These distinguished properties join a select group of top-tier UK hotels, including The Savoy—often cited as the city’s most legendary address—alongside The Dorchester, Claridge’s, Four Seasons Hotel London at Park Lane, The Connaught, The Lanesborough, and 45 Park Lane.

Meanwhile, ten more UK hotels have achieved four-star status, among them The Grove in Hertfordshire, the striking Shangri-La Hotel at The Shard, London, and the ultra-exclusive Hotel 41.

Italy’s presence remains formidable, with Rome celebrating four five-star properties, Florence highlighting three (Four Seasons Hotel Firenze, Hotel Savoy, and Portrait Firenze), and Milan’s Mandarin Oriental earning top honors.

Across Asia, the Palace Hotel Tokyo and The Peninsula Tokyo represent Japan’s five-star elite for 2025, while The Peninsula Bangkok is Thailand’s standout. In China, Mandarin Oriental, Guangzhou; MGM Macau; The Ritz-Carlton Shanghai, Pudong; and Four Seasons Hotel Hangzhou at West Lake all hold five-star status, with the latter remaining Hangzhou’s most acclaimed hotel.

Elsewhere, Dorado Beach, a Ritz-Carlton Reserve in Puerto Rico, and Four Seasons Resort Costa Rica at Peninsula Papagayo are among the Caribbean and Latin America’s most lauded properties. Mexico’s top performers include Los Cabos, Belmond Maroma Resort & Spa in Playa del Carmen, and The Ritz-Carlton, Cancun—all earning Forbes’ highest accolade.

Leading the pack, Four Seasons Hotels and Resorts continues to set the global benchmark with seven new five-star hotels this year, bringing its total to an industry-leading 32 five-star properties—affirming its reputation for consistent excellence across continents.

Beyond the hotel sector, Forbes has also honored three new five-star restaurants (including Atelier Crenn in San Francisco, Mirazur in Menton, and Atera in New York) and three new five-star spas (such as The Spa at Mandarin Oriental, London, The Peninsula Spa Tokyo, and Waldorf Astoria Spa Shanghai) in 2025.

Today, the Forbes Travel Guide Star Rating portfolio features 180 Five-Star hotels, 65 Five-Star restaurants, and 53 Five-Star spas worldwide, reflecting the ever-evolving standards of luxury hospitality.
