Gleneagles Hotel, a crown jewel among Scotland’s luxury retreats, has secured a stellar 9.0 rating on BusinessClass’ elite hotel index. Synonymous with world-class golf, refined accommodations, and the acclaimed 2 Michelin Star Andrew Fairlie Restaurant, Gleneagles remains a magnet for discerning travelers, celebrities, and members of the royal family. Its prestige is underscored by the coveted AA Five Red Star distinction.
After more than three decades under Diageo’s stewardship, Gleneagles entered a transformative era in 2015 when Ennismore acquired the property. Since then, the hotel has undergone an ambitious, multi-million-pound reinvention—unveiling the first stage of this vision to guests and industry insiders alike.
The latest enhancements debut a fully reimagined Century Bar, the introduction of the chic Auchterarder 70 bar, and 35 exquisitely refurbished guest rooms, each reflecting a blend of tradition and modern luxury.
The revitalized Century Bar, renowned for its unparalleled collection of historic and rare Scottish whiskies, has been meticulously redesigned by the esteemed David Collins Studio. The result is a space that artfully balances Scottish character with Gleneagles’ signature sophistication, seamlessly integrating heritage with contemporary flair.
Designers focused on crafting a sophisticated yet inviting ambiance, restoring original wood paneling and infusing the space with art deco-inspired lighting and a fresh, vibrant palette. Enhanced window spaces now frame sweeping vistas of the Ochil Hills, bringing the natural beauty of the landscape into the guest experience.
Simon Rawlings, Creative Director at David Collins Studio, shared: “The transformation of the Century Bar was approached with utmost reverence for its historic significance. We drew inspiration from Gleneagles’ art deco roots, anchoring the space with bold red columns, layering in rich Scottish fabrics, plush seating, and intricate detailing to create an environment that transitions effortlessly from sunlit days to intimate evenings.”
The newly launched Auchterarder 70, named after the hotel’s original phone number, graces the Dormy Clubhouse. Designed by Macaulay Sinclair, this atmospheric venue features a 1920s-inspired oak bar, classic chesterfield sofas, vintage accents, and a nostalgic wall-mounted crank telephone for bespoke table service. Guests enjoy panoramic views over the King’s Course’s 18th hole, complemented by a curated menu of local craft beers and artisanal snacks.
Sharan Pasricha, Ennismore’s founder and owner, commented: “We are thrilled to unveil these exceptional new spaces that honor Gleneagles’ storied past while ushering in an exciting new era. Our approach has been to celebrate the estate’s iconic views, art deco heritage, and spirit of Scottish adventure, while infusing the hotel with renewed energy and contemporary relevance.”
He added, “With the opening of these bars, we are also introducing innovative dining concepts designed to elevate the guest experience for both loyal patrons and first-time visitors.”
