Grand-Hôtel du Cap-Ferrat launches the ultimate gourmet picnic experience

Guests of the Grand-Hôtel du Cap-Ferrat are invited to savour an unparalleled alfresco dining experience, meticulously crafted by Michelin-starred Chef Yoric Tièche, set within the storied gardens of the French Riviera’s illustrious Villa Ephrussi de Rothschild.

In a refined collaboration with the iconic Villa Ephrussi de Rothschild, the Grand-Hôtel du Cap-Ferrat introduces a private gourmet picnic for discerning travellers seeking an extraordinary culinary journey. Upon advance booking, guests embark on a personalised exploration of one of the Riviera’s most treasured landmarks, culminating in a lavish picnic curated by Chef Tièche, renowned for his inventive Mediterranean cuisine celebrated by the Michelin Guide.

Located just a brief five-minute chauffeured ride from the hotel, the Villa Ephrussi de Rothschild stands as a testament to Belle Époque grandeur. Once the residence of Baroness Béatrice de Rothschild, daughter of the esteemed collector Alphonse de Rothschild, the villa was commissioned in the early 20th century as an ode to luxury and art. Over seven years, its construction transformed the Saint-Jean Cap Ferrat coastline, resulting in a Renaissance-inspired masterpiece filled with rare antiques and masterpieces—including a Tiepolo fresco, Marie Antoinette’s gaming table, and a Louis XIV-commissioned tapestry. Recognised as a monument historique and cultural treasure, the Villa continues to captivate art lovers and historians alike.

This exclusive Grand-Hôtel package grants privileged access to the private collections of Baroness Béatrice Ephrussi de Rothschild and the estate’s world-renowned botanical gardens. Guests are offered three and a half hours of private entry, including a guided tour highlighting architectural marvels and exquisite works by celebrated French painters such as René Dubois, Jean-Honoré Fragonard, and François Boucher. Led by expert docents, the tour provides rare insights into the villa’s artefacts and the lifestyle of the Riviera’s elite during the early 1900s. With the estate closed to the general public during the experience, guests enjoy the luxury of unhurried discovery in an atmosphere of total exclusivity.

The immersive experience culminates with a tailor-made picnic elegantly served in the villa’s lush gardens. Presented by a dedicated butler and orchestrated by Chef Yoric Tièche, the menu features the freshest seasonal ingredients sourced from local markets. Selections may include artisanal charcuterie, aged regional cheeses, refined Italian antipasti, lobster and citrus salad, blinis crowned with smoked salmon, and Provencal

bread drizzled with extra virgin olive oil. For dessert, guests are treated to exquisite pastries and confections handcrafted by acclaimed pastry chef Florent Margaillan.

The gardens—designed in the likeness of a ship’s deck and embraced by the shimmering Mediterranean—are adorned with Renaissance urns, tranquil reflecting pools, and rare botanical specimens. Guests recline on plush cushions on the manicured lawns of the
