KLM’s new Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner - with World Business Class

KLM Royal Dutch Airlines has taken its premium cabin to new heights with the introduction of the Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner, featuring a reimagined World Business Class. In preparation for its inaugural journey, KLM has revealed an in-depth look at the aircraft’s sophisticated interiors and enhanced comfort offerings for discerning travelers.

At the heart of the World Business Class experience is the Zodiac Cirrus outward-facing suite, ensuring each guest enjoys a lie-flat seat and unrestricted aisle access—a standard now expected among the world’s leading carriers. This design offers a blend of exclusivity and privacy, keeping KLM competitive in the luxury long-haul market.

The Dreamliner’s forward cabin houses 30 World Business Class suites in a 1-2-1 configuration, providing every passenger with a personal sanctuary. Travelers can also select from Economy Comfort and Economy cabins, each redesigned for optimal relaxation.

Each World Business Class suite boasts generous storage, a plush pillow, and the latest edition of KLM’s signature blanket. With a pitch of 42 inches (109 cm), these seats surpass the comfort offered in Economy Comfort (35 inches/89 cm) and Economy (31 inches/79 cm). The cutting-edge in-flight entertainment system features a vivid 16-inch touchscreen, with intuitive controls allowing guests to game or chat on the handset while watching their favorite films.

Economy travelers benefit from upgraded seats that recline 40% further than previous designs. Each seat is equipped with an individual power outlet, an 11-inch HD screen, and an overhauled entertainment platform, ensuring a refined experience in every cabin.

The Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner remains at the forefront of sustainable aviation, offering a serene cabin ambience and advanced engines that achieve at least 20% greater fuel efficiency and lower CO2 emissions compared to earlier models. KLM’s investment in this aircraft is part of a broader fleet modernization, which has included the addition of the Embraer 175 and 190 jets, further enhancing its regional services.

KLM’s Dreamliners now provide high-speed WiFi to all passengers, following a successful rollout, aligning with the global trend for seamless connectivity at 35,000 feet.

The iconic KLM palette of blue and grey lends the cabin a timeless elegance, while the fully-flat seats with direct aisle access mark a major step forward in guest comfort. Panoramic windows, improved cabin pressurization, and customizable LED lighting further enrich the inflight atmosphere.
