Lufthansa improves travel experience on short- and medium-haul routes

Travelers choosing Lufthansa for their short- and medium-haul journeys in 2025 are now greeted with a thoroughly upgraded in-flight experience. The airline has expanded its next-generation A321neo fleet, now flying regularly from Frankfurt, and has introduced a bespoke seating concept developed in collaboration with its sister carriers SWISS and Austrian Airlines. This marks a new benchmark in European premium travel comfort.

The Italian seat specialist Geven was selected to craft Lufthansa’s new seating. The advanced ergonomic cushioning and full-structure design deliver superior pressure distribution, resulting in a noticeably more comfortable ride. A reimagined seatback, featuring a slimmer profile, increases personal space for each guest. The literature pocket has been intelligently repositioned above the tray table, maximizing legroom and accessibility. Unlike older models, the new seats allow for a constant 20-degree recline during taxi, takeoff, and landing, enhancing comfort throughout the journey. Meanwhile, business class passengers benefit from an even greater recline of up to 26 degrees while cruising.

Each seat row is now equipped with dual-standard USB charging ports, a first for the Lufthansa Group on regional flights, ensuring devices remain powered throughout the trip. For digital travelers, a dedicated tablet holder—integrated directly into the tray table—offers a stable and convenient platform for personal devices, reflecting Lufthansa’s commitment to seamless connectivity and modern luxury.
