Restaurant wins a Michelin-star just six weeks after opening

Setting a new standard in haute cuisine, the Michelin Guide has swiftly awarded a coveted star to K at Kulm Hotel St. Moritz—just weeks after its grand opening.

This remarkable recognition can be largely attributed to the creative vision of Chef Patron Mauro Colagreco, whose flagship restaurant, Mirazur in France, holds the prestigious three Michelin stars and was named the World’s Best Restaurant in 2019 by The World’s 50 Best Restaurants.

K at Kulm Hotel St. Moritz welcomed its first guests on December 22nd, 2020. The restaurant presents an exclusive dinner experience from Tuesday through Saturday, offering a refined seasonal menu. The winter-only dining room closes for the season in mid-March, ensuring each visit feels like a rare occasion.

Upon bestowing its star, the Michelin Guide remarked, “Regrettably, this refined venue in the iconic Kulm Hotel St. Moritz is accessible solely during the winter months. This is a true loss for gourmets, as Chef Colagreco’s inventive, harmonious, and surprising cuisine—world-renowned through his three-star Mirazur—takes center stage here.”

Chef Colagreco, of Italian-Argentine heritage, honed his craft under legendary mentors including Bernard Loiseau, Alain Ducasse, and Guy Martin. His culinary pedigree is unimpeachable, and his expertise is evident in every dish.

Colagreco’s gastronomic approach is rooted in purity, vibrancy, and the celebration of natural flavors. He elevates simple ingredients, such as his signature lemon, which enlivens dishes like anchovy fillets atop crispy anchovy bones. Another highlight, “luxus beta vulgaris,” features salt-baked beetroot paired with Oscietra caviar cream, exemplifying his flair for surprising combinations.

Established in 1856, Kulm Hotel St. Moritz stands as the original grand hotel in this celebrated Swiss alpine destination. With 164 elegantly appointed rooms and suites, five distinct restaurants (including K by Mauro Colagreco), and the acclaimed Kulm Spa St. Moritz, the property remains the premier address for discerning travelers. While the winter season draws the global elite for skiing and socializing, the summer months attract art lovers and outdoor enthusiasts seeking St. Moritz’s sun-drenched landscapes.

Nestled 200 km from Zurich and 175 km from Milan, St. Moritz is effortlessly accessible by car, train, or private helicopter transfer—making it a favorite for luxury travelers seeking both convenience and exclusivity.
