The iconic Ritz-Carlton brand is making a highly anticipated comeback to Sydney, anchoring The Star Sydney’s expansive $1 billion redevelopment—solidifying the precinct’s reputation as the city’s ultimate luxury destination.
During the Asia-Pacific Incentives and Meetings Expo (AIME), John Autelitano, General Manager of Hotels at The Star Sydney, revealed the details of an ambitious multi-year investment plan. This transformative project includes a world-class Ritz-Carlton hotel integrated into the vibrant harbourside complex, elevating Sydney’s hospitality landscape to new heights in 2025 and beyond.
Over the next several years, The Star Sydney—already renowned for its collection of luxury hotels, private residences, award-winning spa, acclaimed dining venues, buzzing bars, a premier casino, state-of-the-art theatre, and extensive conference facilities—will welcome a new Ritz-Carlton hotel tower. This addition will be complemented by a striking ribbon-style development, expanding the precinct’s culinary, wellness, and event offerings to meet the demands of discerning global travelers.
John Autelitano shared, “We are actively progressing approvals to construct a signature hotel tower and dynamic ribbon precinct, designed to invigorate the Pyrmont area and increase The Star’s accommodations portfolio to over 1,000 rooms.”
He continued, “This visionary development is being realized in partnership with our esteemed Queen’s Wharf Brisbane collaborators, Chow Tai Fook Enterprises and Far East Consortium. Our ongoing collaboration with The Ritz-Carlton brand is set to reintroduce their legendary service to Sydney, further enriching The Star’s diverse guest experiences.”
The Ritz-Carlton’s re-emergence in Australia has been marked by notable openings, including the acclaimed Ritz-Carlton Perth. The Sydney project signals a triumphant return for the brand, whose previous Sydney property transitioned to InterContinental branding in 2009. With this bold new venture, The Ritz-Carlton is poised to redefine luxury hospitality in the city’s thriving Pyrmont district.
