Singapore Airlines receives its first Airbus A350-900

Singapore Airlines has officially incorporated its inaugural Airbus A350-900, delivered from the Airbus Delivery Centre in Toulouse, solidifying its commitment to innovation and premium air travel. This aircraft is the first of 67 A350s on firm order, including seven Ultra Long Range (ULR) variants, with Singapore Airlines recognized as the launch customer for this advanced model.

The arrival of the A350-900 represents a pivotal step in Singapore Airlines’ ongoing strategy to maintain one of the youngest and most technologically advanced fleets worldwide, reinforcing its status as a leader in international aviation.

CEO Mr. Goh Choon Phong remarked, “The A350 is transformative for our operations. Its superior range and fuel efficiency enable us to operate non-stop services to more distant destinations, enhancing our network reach and the strategic importance of Changi Airport as a global hub.”

He further highlighted, “Passengers can expect the latest cabin innovations aboard the A350-900, including our award-winning Business Class, Premium Economy, and Economy Class products, complemented by KrisWorld—our state-of-the-art in-flight entertainment system.”

Since its introduction, the A350-900ULR has enabled Singapore Airlines to resume and expand ultra-long-haul non-stop services, such as the world’s longest flight between Singapore and New York, as well as direct routes to Los Angeles and San Francisco, with further U.S. destinations added in recent years.

This A350-900 configuration features 253 seats across three cabins: 42 in Business Class, 24 in Premium Economy, and 187 in Economy. The aircraft initially operated on regional routes within Asia for crew familiarization before being deployed on prominent long-haul sectors, including Singapore to Amsterdam and beyond.
