Singapore introduces cruises to nowhere

Move aside, sky-high sightseeing—Singapore's innovative cruises to nowhere are redefining luxury escapism for 2025. As global travel continues to evolve, these exclusive voyages offer an imaginative alternative for those eager to set sail without leaving Singaporean waters.

. Now, Singapore has set a new benchmark by introducing sea-bound journeys exclusively for local residents.

In close partnership with Genting Cruise Line's World Dream and Royal Caribbean's Quantum of the Seas, the Singapore National Tourist Office has curated a series of pilot cruises that have captivated the local market.

Both cruise lines report overwhelming demand: Genting Cruise Lines received more than 6,000 reservations within the first week, while Royal Caribbean's initial sailings reached near capacity almost instantly.

These sailings are a departure from conventional cruises. As outlined by the Singapore National Tourist Board, each itinerary includes no international stops, operates at a capped 50% occupancy, and is restricted to Singapore residents to ensure safety and exclusivity.

Stringent health protocols are in place. Guests are required to show a negative COVID-19 test prior to embarkation. Onboard, mask usage is mandatory in shared spaces, except during dining and select recreational activities.

Onboard, travelers can indulge in a diverse array of gourmet dining venues and thrilling amenities such as expansive rock climbing walls and a six-slide waterpark, all designed to rival the world’s best floating resorts.

Departing directly from Singapore, the cruise traces a scenic route along the Straits of Malacca before returning to port. Guests may select from two- or three-night itineraries, with fares beginning at S$359 per person. As of 2025, these cruises continue to run regularly, with over twenty departures scheduled annually.
