Singapore to Stockholm in Business Class with Singapore Airlines

Singapore to Stockholm in Business Class with Singapore Airlines

After several relaxing days embracing the vibrant energy of Singapore, my return to Scandinavia beckoned—this time, with the privilege of flying Business Class aboard Singapore Airlines’ state-of-the-art Airbus A350-900. With a scheduled departure at 00:20, I enjoyed a full day and evening in Singapore before heading to the airport, a real advantage for those attending business meetings or exclusive dinners in the city. Despite the evening rush, Changi Airport maintains its signature calm and refined ambiance, setting the gold standard among international hubs.

I arrived at Changi around 21:30 and proceeded to Terminal 3. Instead of waiting at the busy Business Class counters, I was welcomed at a First/Suites check-in desk, where staff seamlessly checked my baggage through to Oslo, despite my onward ticket being on a separate reservation.

Singapore Changi’s automated immigration process is smooth and efficient—simply scan your passport and thumbprint, and you’re through to the terminal’s luxury boutiques and lounges. Unlike many global airports, security screening occurs at the gate, so you can enjoy Changi’s impressive amenities after clearing immigration. Our editorial team will explore these offerings in a dedicated article soon.

The SilverKris Lounge, a hallmark of Singapore Airlines’ premium ground experience, is centrally located on Terminal 3’s mezzanine. After ascending the escalator, attentive staff guide you to the spacious main lounge, the exclusive First Class area, or The Private Room for Suites and First Class guests.

On this particular evening, the lounge was bustling, but I managed to find a tranquil seat, indulging in salted nuts and a glass of Champagne while purposefully saving my appetite for the onboard meal I’d pre-ordered via the acclaimed Book the Cook service. Around 23:30, I changed into attire better suited for Sweden’s cooler climate, then made my way to gate B3 for my SQ362 departure. Security at the B gates was swift and well-organized. As a Business Class passenger, priority boarding meant a smooth transition—until my boarding pass triggered a concerning beep at the gate.

Staff quickly explained that my assigned seat, 11K, had an inoperative entertainment system. They offered an alternative seat, but since my priority was rest rather than in-flight entertainment, I chose to remain. The Business Class queue at the gate ensured a seamless boarding process.

Once onboard, I was greeted by Sam, the in-flight supervisor, who sincerely apologized for the technical issue. A technician made a final attempt to resolve the problem, but the touch-screen remote remained unresponsive. Sam thoughtfully offered to let me use seat 18F for dining and entertainment before returning to 11K for sleep—a gesture that reflected Singapore Airlines’ commitment to personal service.

The Business Class seat is exceptionally wide, with thoughtfully designed storage spaces for personal items. The noise-cancelling headphones are stowed in a convenient compartment, and the sturdy tray table deploys easily from the side console.

Three adjustable LED reading lights provide customizable illumination, perfect for reading or working without disturbing fellow passengers. The 1-2-1 configuration ensures privacy—unless you lean forward, you won’t see other guests. Couples traveling together will appreciate the central pair of seats, with an optional divider for privacy. The cabin’s generous overhead space and clean lines give an airy, sophisticated feel.

Gourmet Dining & Impeccable Service Onboard

Once we reached cruising altitude, I moved to seat 18F, where the crew welcomed me with a classic Singapore Sling and a bowl of warmed nuts—a signature touch. The cocktail was punchy, but perfectly balanced, and set the tone for the meal service to follow.

The dining experience began with crisp white linens and elegant metal cutlery, underscoring the premium atmosphere. My appetizer was a delicately plated crab salad, enhanced by vibrant mango salsa and a fragrant herb vinaigrette.

For bread, I selected the garlic variety—warm, aromatic, and delicious. Paired with a glass of New Zealand’s Mud House Sauvignon Blanc, the flavors were bright and refreshing. For my main, I enjoyed the renowned Lobster Thermidor, pre-ordered through the Book the Cook service—a standout dish, expertly prepared and beautifully presented. With over a dozen Book the Cook entrées available, the selection caters to all palates, but the lobster remains a perennial favorite for good reason.

After the main, dessert arrived: a raspberry millefeuille, featuring layers of crisp pastry and tangy fruit coulis. While visually appealing, the dessert felt somewhat mass-produced, lacking the finesse of the preceding courses. A cheese board followed, offering Emmental, garlic cream, and smoked mozzarella, accompanied by fresh garnishes.

Satisfied, I transitioned back to seat 11K to prepare for rest. It’s worth noting that Singapore Airlines’ standard in-flight menu is also thoughtfully curated, with appealing options for every taste. For those interested, photos of additional menu items are included below.

Rest & Sleep Quality: Business Class Bed Experience

Returning to 11K, I fastened the seatbelt—now featuring an integrated airbag for enhanced safety, a standard across Singapore Airlines’ latest Business Class seats. While the technical details may be complex, the extra peace of mind is welcome.

Pillow and plush duvet in place, I settled in for a restful night. The cabin temperature was pleasantly cool, an often-overlooked detail that ensures comfort during long-haul sleep. Wearing my loungewear, I managed nearly six hours of uninterrupted rest, aided by the illuminated "do not disturb" button conveniently located beside the seat controls.

If there’s one minor drawback, it’s the seat’s firmness in certain positions—you may feel the underlying structure, especially at the seat’s crease when lying flat. In the A350’s bulkhead rows (11 and 19), the footwell is noticeably more spacious, allowing you to stretch out fully and shift positions without restriction, thanks to the absence of the angled partition found elsewhere in the cabin.

Singapore Airlines’ refreshed Business Class product impresses with its generous width and privacy, even if it doesn’t offer fully enclosed suites. The seat’s recline and ergonomic design are ideal for both sleep and movie viewing. I recommend seat 11K for its distance from the galley and restrooms (11A is closer to the lavatory and may see more traffic, while row 19 is busier on overnight flights). As we neared Moscow, I woke and requested a light snack—Sam, ever attentive, promptly delivered fruit, a croissant, juice, and a robust black coffee.

Transit in Moscow & Arrival in Stockholm

My light breakfast arrived promptly, and Sam reassured me there was no need to rush—another hallmark of Singapore Airlines’ attentive service. Once cleared, we began our descent into Moscow Domodedovo, where I freshened up in the spacious lavatory. Although Singapore Airlines does not provide a full amenity kit in Business Class, pre-departure amenities include socks, slippers, and an eye mask, while the lavatories are well-stocked with high-end toiletries, moisturizer, and dental kits.

Touchdown in Moscow was punctual. As per Russian regulations, all personal items must be removed from the cabin during transit. With a seat at the front of the aircraft, I was among the first to disembark and breeze through passport control and security. The lounge during our layover was crowded, but I managed a quick coffee and water before boarding resumed at gate 13A. For the next segment, I was assigned seat 11A.

KrisWorld Entertainment & The Singapore Airlines Experience

Prior to boarding in Moscow, Sam had offered to relocate me to seat 11A, which had become available after the previous occupant disembarked. I appreciated the gesture, as it allowed me to experience the KrisWorld entertainment system’s full capabilities on the final leg to Stockholm. The 18-inch HD display is vivid, and the interface is intuitive, navigable via a smartphone-like touch remote with physical controls for ease of use.

The content selection is extensive, with the latest films, popular TV series, and a curated library of music. A standout feature is KrisWorld Connect, enabling passengers to pair their own devices for seamless navigation—this worked flawlessly with my Samsung Galaxy, and is now standard across Singapore Airlines’ Premium Economy and Business cabins. The final approach into Stockholm was serene, offering sweeping views of the archipelago before a smooth landing at Arlanda’s F gates.

During my layover, I visited the SAS lounge while awaiting my onward flight to Oslo. My luggage, checked through from Singapore despite separate bookings, arrived without issue. While the Moscow stopover adds time to the journey, the route’s competitive fares and Singapore Airlines’ consistently award-winning Business Class make it a compelling choice. The blend of refined service, privacy, and culinary excellence on board ensures that every passenger is treated as a cherished guest, not just a seat number.
