St Regis debuts in Malaysia with Langkawi luxury resort

St. Regis, under Marriott International’s prestigious luxury portfolio, has unveiled its first Malaysian address with The St. Regis Langkawi, ushering in a new era of sophisticated hospitality on the island.

Langkawi, often referred to as the “Jewel of Kedah,” is an enchanting archipelago comprised of 104 islands in the Andaman Sea, just 30 kilometers from the northwest coast of Malaysia. Recognized as Southeast Asia’s first UNESCO Global Geopark, Langkawi is celebrated for its pristine beaches, lush rainforests, and geological marvels. The St. Regis Langkawi is the result of a strategic partnership between the Rajawali Group and Malaysia’s Ministry of Finance.

“Our unwavering commitment is to curate extraordinary, personalized experiences at every St. Regis property, and we are delighted to introduce our legendary brand to Malaysia,” shared Jim Petrus, Global Brand Leader for St. Regis Hotels & Resorts. “With its breathtaking setting and signature butler service, The St. Regis Langkawi elevates the luxury landscape of the island.”

Located just a 30-minute journey from Langkawi International Airport, this exclusive resort nestles along a sweeping white-sand beach, offering uninterrupted views across a tranquil lagoon and the emerald-hued Andaman Sea.

Boasting four private overwater villas and 85 sumptuous suites—all with panoramic ocean vistas—The St. Regis Langkawi immerses guests in a serene, dreamlike ambiance. The property’s architecture harmoniously blends refined European aesthetics with subtle Middle Eastern accents, creating an atmosphere of timeless elegance amid the island’s natural beauty.

Gastronomes are spoiled for choice with six distinct dining and lounge venues. Kayuputi presents inventive Asian-inspired fine dining, while L’Orangerie showcases modern French cuisine enhanced with Asian and Middle Eastern influences. The St. Regis Bar crafts classic cocktails and curated canapés; Decanter offers an impressive wine selection; and The Drawing Room provides a refined setting for intimate gatherings.

Among the resort’s world-class amenities are the expansive 8,600-square-foot Iridium Spa, a contemporary salon, a dramatic infinity pool, a natural saltwater lagoon, a state-of-the-art athletic club, and more than 10,000 square feet of flexible event space, including the resplendent Astor Ballroom adorned with gleaming chandeliers.

“The debut of St. Regis in Malaysia marks a significant milestone in the brand’s Southeast Asian growth,” remarked Charlie Dang, Regional Vice President for Southeast Asia, Marriott International. “With Langkawi’s evolution into a premier luxury destination, The St. Regis Langkawi amplifies the island’s allure for discerning global travelers.”

This landmark opening signified the 37th St. Regis property globally and the brand’s inaugural Malaysian resort. Following the celebrated launch of The St. Regis Dubai

, the brand has continued its dynamic expansion with additional flagships in Kuala Lumpur, the Maldives, Changsha, and Cairo, further reinforcing its commitment to redefining ultra-luxury hospitality in the region.
