Thai Airways new pop-up restaurant

Thai Airways new pop-up restaurant

Thai Airways, the flagship carrier of Thailand, has launched an innovative pop-up restaurant in Bangkok, offering guests the rare opportunity to savor authentic in-flight cuisine in a ground-based, aviation-inspired setting. This concept has become a standout attraction, prompting the airline to consider further expansion of its restaurant operations.

In the wake of the global travel downturn, Thai Airways—like many international airlines—faced significant challenges, including a major restructuring process. To diversify revenue streams and maintain engagement with loyal passengers, the airline transformed part of its Bangkok headquarters into a pop-up dining venue, replicating the ambiance and culinary experience of its premium cabins.

Guests are warmly welcomed by Thai Airways’ own cabin crew, elegantly attired in full uniform, lending an air of authenticity and hospitality reminiscent of the airline’s award-winning onboard service.

The venue is meticulously designed to evoke the feeling of being aboard a modern aircraft. Authentic airline seats, window panels, and even jet engine mock-ups immerse diners in a curated aviation environment. Each element, from seat fixtures to décor, features QR codes that guests can scan for in-depth stories and technical details, enhancing the interactive experience.

According to Varangkana Luerojvong, Thai Airways’ Catering Manager, the restaurant is equipped to serve up to 2,000 meals daily. The overwhelming response from both locals and international visitors has led to plans for additional outlets in key locations across Thailand, further solidifying the brand’s presence beyond the skies.

The restaurant currently welcomes diners from Wednesday to Sunday, between 9:00 and 14:00, at Thai Airways’ main headquarters in Bangkok. Reservations are highly recommended due to strong demand and limited seating designed to preserve the exclusive atmosphere.

As luxury travel editors, we anticipate that this aviation dining concept will continue to thrive, and we look forward to personally experiencing Thai Airways’ renowned hospitality in this unique setting as global travel resumes at full pace.
