The Ritz Paris reopens its iconic doors

After a transformative restoration that has set new standards in luxury hospitality, the legendary Ritz Paris has once again welcomed guests into its storied halls, reaffirming its status as the ultimate Parisian address for discerning travelers.

The meticulous renovation—spanning four years and surpassing €140 million—was an ambitious undertaking, blending historic grandeur with state-of-the-art technology. Despite a brief setback caused by a fire incident, the hotel’s reopening has redefined the luxury landscape of Place Vendôme in 2025.

Under the ownership of Mohamed Al-Fayed, the Ritz Paris continues to be a magnet for international luminaries. Throughout its illustrious history, icons such as Ernest Hemingway, Coco Chanel, and F. Scott Fitzgerald have graced its legendary suites and celebrated bars. The renowned Bar Hemingway, thoughtfully restored, remains a cornerstone of the Parisian social scene, while Coco Chanel’s former suite—her residence for 35 years—has been impeccably preserved for a new generation of guests.

Masterminded by acclaimed architect Thierry W. Despont, the comprehensive revamp has resulted in 142 lavish rooms, including 71 expansive suites—15 of which pay tribute to the hotel’s most illustrious patrons. The Ritz Paris now boasts the world’s only Chanel Spa, a discreet VIP tunnel entrance, and a host of dining venues, including the iconic Bar Hemingway, three exceptional restaurants, and two elegant bars.

Guest accommodations are adorned with carefully curated antiques and bespoke furnishings, while marble-clad bathrooms feature in-mirror televisions, underfloor heating, and separate soaking tubs and rain showers. Two serene private gardens, enhanced by a retractable glass roof and heated terraces, offer tranquil escapes in the heart of Paris—ideal for alfresco dining throughout the seasons.

The restoration has infused the property with modern luxuries: advanced climate control, cutting-edge plumbing, ultra-fast Wi-Fi, and a subterranean ballroom for grand events. The 21,500-square-foot garden and the Salon Proust—dedicated to the famed writer who frequented the hotel—now offer refined settings for afternoon tea and private gatherings.

As Ernest Hemingway famously declared, "When I dream of afterlife in heaven, the action always takes place in the Paris Ritz." With its doors open wide once again, the Ritz Paris stands as a beacon of timeless elegance, ready to host a new chapter of unforgettable moments for the world’s most sophisticated travelers.
