According to the latest aviation analytics, the route connecting Kuala Lumpur and Singapore Changi continues to dominate as the world’s most heavily traveled international air corridor.

Drawing from OAG’s comprehensive 2025 Global Busiest International Routes report, which tracks scheduled airline frequencies over a 12-month period ending April 2025, the Kuala Lumpur–Singapore sector logged an impressive 32,187 flights, maintaining its top position for consecutive years.

This high-frequency air bridge, spanning just under an hour’s flight time, remains vital for both business and leisure travelers. Construction on the much-anticipated high-speed rail link between the two cities has resumed, with completion targeted for late 2027, promising to further transform regional connectivity.

Other Asian city pairs continue to set the pace: Hong Kong–Taipei ranks second, followed by Jakarta–Singapore in third place, Hong Kong–Shanghai Pudong in fourth, and Jakarta–Kuala Lumpur rounding out the top five. These results reflect the resilience and dynamism of air travel across Asia.

Mayur Patel, OAG’s JAPAC Regional Sales Director, notes: “Asia Pacific’s aviation sector remains a powerhouse, with 14 of the top 20 busiest international routes—and eight of the top 10—connecting major Asian metropolises. This underscores both the region’s economic vitality and the competitive landscape among carriers.”

The analysis further highlights that 14 of the globe’s 20 busiest international routes are between Asian cities, with Hong Kong serving as a central hub, featuring in six of these key routes.

Additionally, five major Asian airports—Kuala Lumpur, Bangkok, Jakarta, Taipei, and Shanghai Pudong—appear on at least two of the busiest routes worldwide. Kansai–Taipei leads in on-time performance (OTP) among Asian routes with an impressive 84%, closely followed by Bangkok–Singapore at 81% and Incheon–Kansai at 79%.
