User review: Qatar Airways 787 Copenhagen - Doha in Business Class

Trip report by: HenrikAmby

This marks my debut in sharing an in-depth flight review.

Earlier this year, I came across this forum thread on BusinessClass.dk, which spotlighted some outstanding business class deals with Qatar Airways. I seized the opportunity and reserved a round-trip ticket for the Easter period, traveling from Copenhagen to Ho Chi Minh City, where I planned to rendezvous with a friend arriving from Abu Dhabi. My fare totaled DKK 8,380. Below, I detail my experience on the outbound segment: QR162, departing Copenhagen at 09:50.

After a seamless check-in at Copenhagen Airport, business class passengers are granted fast track security clearance and access to the Aspire Lounge in Terminal B. While this lounge doesn’t rival the opulence of the Al Mourjan Business Lounge in Doha (where I’m currently writing), I appreciate that Qatar Airways cordons off the quietest lounge area exclusively for its premium guests.

Entrance to the B-terminal lounge is one floor above the main shopping concourse.

The most tranquil corner of the lounge is reserved for Qatar Airways business class travelers.

En route to boarding, I snapped a photo of the Boeing 787 Dreamliner at gate C33. Priority boarding was efficiently managed for business and elite status passengers, so I was among the first to board.

Upon entering the largely empty cabin, the sense of space and privacy afforded to each traveler was immediately apparent. The following photos showcase the generous cabin layout.

Here’s my seat, 3A. Before I had even settled in, a flight attendant welcomed me personally with a warm smile.

Though my long-haul business class experience is limited, the difference in personal space versus other airlines, such as Etihad’s A330 staggered configuration, was striking.

Ample storage to the left of the seat.

Additional compartment to the right, perfect for bottled water and the provided noise-cancelling headphones.

Legroom is plentiful—at 187 cm tall, I could barely reach the ottoman while seated upright.

The attention to detail in the seat’s craftsmanship stood out. The leather panel stitching on the left side adds a refined touch.

Soon after settling in, the crew presented separate menus for cuisine and beverages, offered a choice of hot or cold towel, and took pre-departure drink orders (alcoholic options are served after takeoff only).

A Giorgio Armani amenity kit was presented, featuring lip balm, ear plugs, aftershave, aftershave lotion, socks, and an eye mask.

Once airborne, Qatar’s Oryx One in-flight Wi-Fi and GSM connectivity became available. While connectivity has improved in 2025 with broader coverage and faster speeds, data packages remain on the smaller side, and the cost is still a consideration for frequent flyers wishing to stay connected.

Turning to the culinary experience —

For my pre-lunch beverage, I selected Billecart-Salmon Brut, accompanied by a serving of warm nuts.

The lunch service featured four courses:

Beetroot soup with chive crème fraîche, complemented by Drappier Rosé Champagne.

Traditional Arabic mezze selection

Chicken tikka masala with green pea pulao

Concluding with an apple tart paired with cinnamon ice cream and a whiskey sour.

As a thoughtful touch, the crew offered a selection of Valrhona chocolates, which I saved for later enjoyment.

The in-flight entertainment system impressed with its large, high-definition screen. On this sector, I watched "The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 2" and "The Martian."

The dual-screen interface is a standout feature, allowing you to monitor the flight map on the handheld touchscreen while enjoying a movie on the main display.

The lavatory was notably spacious for an aircraft, offering approximately one square meter of floor space. A window in the lavatory lets in natural light, creating a more open feel.

Additional amenities, such as shaving kits and toothbrush sets, were readily available in the restroom.

My journey with Qatar Airways business class on this route was thoroughly satisfying. I eagerly anticipate the remaining flights on this itinerary.

Time to head to the Al Mourjan lounge restaurant for a well-deserved dinner!
