Virgin Atlantic has set a new benchmark in premium air travel with the introduction of its reimagined Upper Class suite aboard the state-of-the-art Airbus A350-1000. The flagship aircraft, including the much-celebrated "Red Velvet," now features an entirely redesigned Upper Class cabin, complete with a sophisticated private suite and an exclusive social space. These cabins are available to book now, offering travelers a refined journey on select transatlantic routes.
Building on its pioneering legacy as the first airline to introduce an onboard bar, Virgin Atlantic has elevated the concept with The Loft—an expansive, communal lounge at 35,000 feet. As the largest social area in Virgin’s fleet, The Loft invites Upper Class guests to connect, savor signature cocktails, or share a meal with fellow travelers in a relaxed, stylish setting.
Inspired by the airline's renowned Clubhouse lounges, The Loft brings a curated selection of beverages and gourmet options to the skies. Guests can indulge in a bespoke afternoon tea designed by acclaimed pâtissier Eric Lanlard, as well as innovative dishes created in partnership with celebrity chef Donal Skehan. The space features plush seating, Bluetooth connectivity for personal headphones, and a 32-inch screen for group entertainment or live tailcam views—blending comfort and technology seamlessly.
Virgin Atlantic’s Upper Class transformation goes beyond The Loft. The newly crafted suite, shaped in collaboration with frequent flyers, redefines privacy and ergonomics for today’s discerning traveler:
- Every suite is oriented towards the window and equipped with adjustable privacy partitions.
- The 1-2-1 cabin layout ensures direct aisle access for all, with each suite offering a generous 44-inch pitch and a fully lie-flat bed extending up to 82 inches.
- Seats convert effortlessly from upright to bed mode, allowing for uninterrupted rest.
- Each suite boasts the airline’s largest ever in-flight entertainment screen—18.5 inches—controlled intuitively via the passenger’s own smart device.
- Every guest enjoys unobstructed aisle access, consistent with Virgin Atlantic’s commitment to comfort and convenience.
Shai Weiss, CEO of Virgin Atlantic, remarks:

Virgin Atlantic’s A350-1000 flies daily between London Heathrow and New York JFK, with expanded service to other key US cities. The airline now operates a full complement of 12 A350-1000s, all delivered and in service, forming the backbone of its long-haul premium offering.
