Location

For discerning travelers seeking an authentic Tanzanian safari experience, the Four Seasons Safari Lodge Serengeti stands as a beacon of refined adventure. Nestled within the iconic UNESCO-listed Serengeti National Park, this exclusive lodge blends contemporary African aesthetics with the signature service of Four Seasons. The property features 77 accommodations—comprising 60 guest rooms, 12 suites, and 5 private villas—centered around a striking two-level main lodge that serves as the social heart of the resort.

Guests are spoiled for choice with three distinct culinary venues: Kula’s Restaurant delivers a fusion of African and international flavors, the atmospheric Boma Grill offers an immersive dining experience by the fire under the stars, and the Maji Bar delights with expertly crafted cocktails and tapas. For those looking for something even more bespoke, the Four Seasons team can orchestrate unforgettable private bush dinners—safely guarded by Maasai warriors—or arrange in-villa dining with tailored menus. Wellness seekers will find sanctuary at the Serengeti Kani Spa, home to six stand-alone treatment suites, while the infinity pool offers panoramic views of a bustling watering hole frequented by elephants. The property also boasts a fully equipped 72-square-meter fitness center with yoga, meditation, and group classes, two curated boutiques, a Games Room, a Library, and a knowledgeable guide team. Families are warmly welcomed, with the Kijana Klub offering a creative lineup of activities for younger guests, and the interactive Discovery Centre providing museum-quality exhibits and lectures to deepen appreciation for local wildlife and Maasai culture.

Onsite and offsite adventures abound, from birdwatching and guided walks to exhilarating game drives and sunrise hot-air balloon safaris, ensuring every guest leaves with lifelong memories of Africa’s untamed beauty.

Accommodation

Situated in the central region of Serengeti National Park—spanning over 15,000 square kilometers—the lodge offers unrivaled access to Tanzania’s legendary wildlife. Here, the Big Five (lion, leopard, buffalo, elephant, and rhino) roam freely across the savannah alongside vast herds of wildebeest, zebra, and more than 500 recorded bird species. Ingeniously elevated on platforms and wooden walkways, the lodge is positioned beside a vibrant watering hole, granting guests front-row seats to daily wildlife spectacles, particularly the majestic elephants.

Serengeti National Park was among the first UNESCO World Heritage Sites, recognized for its ecological importance and longstanding conservation efforts. The park remains unfenced, allowing free migration of wildlife across borders and maintaining the integrity of one of the world’s last great wildernesses.

The property lies in the Central Serengeti, just 45 minutes by road from Seronera Airstrip (SEU). The airstrip is accessible via scheduled flights from Arusha Airport (ARK), Julius Nyerere International (DAR), and Kilimanjaro International (JRO), making arrivals seamless for international and domestic travelers alike.

Travelers should be aware that luggage allowances on local flights are typically limited to 15 kilograms per person, and soft-sided bags are strongly recommended. For those preferring greater flexibility, private charter aircraft can be arranged with fewer restrictions and direct access to Seronera Airstrip during daylight hours.

Prior to arrival, Four Seasons provides a comprehensive pre-arrival guide, offering essential packing tips, wellness advice, and practical information to ensure a smooth and enjoyable safari adventure.

Service & Facilities

The lodge’s 77 accommodations—spanning guest rooms, suites, and private villas—are designed in a modern African style, with calming neutral hues accented by rich, earthy textures and artisanal details. Every space is thoughtfully appointed to create a tranquil sanctuary that frames the surrounding savannah.

Guest rooms are divided into four categories, all generously sized at 55 square meters. The Horizon Room and Horizon Room Water Hole View, both on upper levels, feature expansive terraces for unobstructed vistas of the Serengeti, with the latter offering a coveted view of the watering hole where wildlife gathers at dawn and dusk.

On the ground floor, the Savannah Room and Savannah Room Water Hole View offer direct access to the landscape, with the latter providing a unique perspective of animals as they approach to drink.

All rooms include thatched roofs for authentic ambiance, air conditioning, blackout curtains, private minibars, flat-screen TVs, secure safes with charging ports, tea and coffee facilities, and high-speed premium Wi-Fi. Bathrooms are equipped with double vanities, illuminated makeup mirrors, hairdryers, and—on request—ironing boards for added convenience.

The suites, measuring 88 square meters, are available with either sweeping savannah views (Terrace Suite) or privileged water hole outlooks. Terrace Suites boast separate living areas and a private plunge pool with an outdoor shower, ideal for families, as additional trundle beds can be set up in the lounge for younger guests.

The resort’s three freestanding villas offer the ultimate in privacy and space: the one-bedroom villa measures 121 square meters, the two-bedroom villa spans 172 square meters, and the lavish Presidential Villa encompasses 242 square meters.

Each villa is crafted to feel like a serene private residence, complete with private pools, open-air showers, and gourmet kitchens. Floor-to-ceiling windows wrap the living spaces, allowing sunlight to pour in and the panorama to become part of the décor. The two-bedroom villa is cleverly designed with bedrooms separated by a spacious living and dining area, perfect for families or friends. The infinity pool, positioned for sunset views, is the ideal spot for a sundowner.

The Presidential Villa is tailored for groups or families seeking exclusivity, accommodating up to six adults or a mix of adults and children. Elevated above the watering hole, it features a grand open-plan living space, private study, lower-level gym, poolside barbecue, and includes dedicated butler service and complimentary spa treatments. Every window delivers a cinematic view of the Serengeti, ensuring a sense of immersion at every turn.

Wellness activities such as sunset meditation atop a kopje, yoga, and Pilates classes are also available, ensuring holistic rejuvenation amid the wild.

The Serengeti Kani Spa features six secluded treatment pavilions for singles or couples, each with private steam showers and alfresco bathtubs, offering a restorative menu inspired by African healing traditions. Treatments cater to all ages, and a robust schedule of fitness classes is complemented by a 24-hour gym outfitted with the latest cardio and strength equipment—all with sweeping savannah views and access to personal trainers upon request.

The freeform infinity pool is a guest favorite, providing a tranquil respite from the midday sun and a front-row seat to the daily parade of wildlife at the watering hole below.

The Discovery Centre functions as both an interactive museum and a lecture venue, where guests can watch acclaimed wildlife documentaries, learn about the Great Migration, and engage with conservation experts. The lodge’s resident naturalist, photographer-in-residence, and Maasai guides offer insight into ongoing research initiatives, such as the Serengeti Cheetah Project and the Serengeti Lion Project, fostering guest participation in wildlife monitoring and conservation efforts.

Families are thoughtfully accommodated with the Kijana Klub, a vibrant children’s club located in the main lodge. Young guests enjoy hands-on bushcraft with Maasai mentors, tree planting, culinary workshops, and educational programs under the Kids for All Seasons brand. Facilities include creative arts and crafts, foosball, a curated library, board games, and gaming consoles, with regular activities such as film nights, Swahili lessons, nature walks, and cultural exchanges with local Maasai community members.

Additional amenities include two stylish boutiques, a Games Room, a well-stocked Library, and a knowledgeable on-site guide team to enhance every aspect of your stay.

Restaurants & Bars

Four Seasons Safari Lodge Serengeti reimagines the safari experience, merging the untamed spirit of Africa with the comforts of a world-class resort. Elevated walkways and open-air decks bring guests close to wildlife in a safe and immersive manner, while the property’s low-rise architecture and thoughtful landscaping minimize environmental impact and maximize panoramic views. Air conditioning throughout the lodge ensures comfort even during the hottest months.

The interiors pay homage to African artistry, with locally inspired décor, handcrafted textiles, and curated artwork reflecting the rich cultural heritage of the region. The Four Seasons brand is globally recognized for its commitment to sustainability and responsible tourism—an ethos that is deeply embedded in the lodge’s operation and community initiatives. The property has received multiple accolades for its environmental stewardship and contributions to local development, making it a model for eco-conscious luxury in East Africa.

Sustainability

Guests can indulge in a trio of outstanding dining venues: Nuru, offering a vibrant blend of African and international cuisine; Boma Grill, where open-fire cooking is paired with Maasai storytelling; and the Maji Bar, renowned for its panoramic terrace and inventive cocktails.

Nuru’s fold-away windows open to sweeping pool and savannah views, creating an unforgettable setting for both breakfast buffets and à la carte dinners. Diners can watch chefs in action at live stations, choosing from local specialties and global favorites.

Boma Grill encircles a blazing firepit, serving up traditional Tanzanian fare with a modern twist, all while guests are immersed in Maasai culture through music and dance. Menu highlights range from aromatic Banana Soup and succulent Grilled South African Beef to Zanzibar-inspired Prawn Curry and Spiced Okra & Chickpea Stew.

The Maji Bar and Terrace is perfect for relaxed all-day dining with a view—think artisanal pizzas, fresh salads, and African tapas, as well as standouts like Octopus Ceviche, Prawn Linguini, Serengeti Mozzarella Sticks, and decadent desserts such as the Savannah Sundae.

For those seeking privacy or something truly special, in-villa dining is available, and the lodge’s signature experiences include torchlit bush barbecues, intimate dinners on floating platforms in the pool, or a seven-course gourmet journey in The Vineyard, accompanied by curated South African wine pairings.

What We Love

Four Seasons Safari Lodge Serengeti is a leader in sustainable tourism, implementing rigorous environmental standards and investing in local communities. The lodge’s commitment extends from eco-friendly operations to guest education and impactful conservation partnerships, ensuring the Serengeti’s legacy for generations to come.

A portion of revenue from game drives, walking safaris, boutique purchases, and guest donations supports the Discovery Centre Fund, which finances vital community and wildlife conservation projects. The lodge is a long-term supporter of both the Rhino Conservation Project and the Frankfurt Zoological Society’s Serengeti De-snaring initiative, which combats poaching and protects vulnerable species. Efforts also support local social causes, such as the Safe House in Mugumu, which offers refuge to young girls at risk.

The lodge prioritizes local sourcing, with 75% of suppliers based in Tanzania and 90% of boutique products originating from Africa—60% from Tanzania itself. The boutique features pieces by Shanga Shangaa, a social enterprise employing Tanzanians with disabilities, as well as handcrafted jewelry from Sidai Designs and the Maasai Women’s Development Organization, empowering local artisans and communities.

Investing in the next generation of hospitality professionals, the Discovery Centre Fund provides training, internships, and scholarships for students from institutions such as the National College of Tourism, Serengeti Tourism College (STC), IBES, VETA, and the College of African Wildlife Management. Since 2020, the lodge has awarded two-year scholarships annually to top students from STC, nurturing future leaders in conservation and tourism.
