Jason Eckhoff Jason Eckhoff Jan 15, 2025

Location

For an unrivaled safari experience, the Serengeti National Park in Tanzania remains the ultimate destination—renowned for the legendary Great Migration and its breathtaking untamed landscapes. Nestled in the heart of this iconic wilderness, One Nature Nyaruswiga Serengeti occupies a 32-square-kilometre private expanse, featuring 14 ultra-luxe tented suites—12 designed for couples, and two for families—each promising uninterrupted vistas across the vast Nyaruswiga plains.

One Nature Nyaruswiga’s philosophy is rooted in environmental stewardship, blending contemporary luxury with sustainable practices. The camp is constructed from responsibly sourced timber and eco-friendly materials, ensuring minimal ecological impact while delivering an authentic, five-star safari atmosphere. In addition to the tented accommodations, the property boasts an elegant Main Guest Lounge & Bar for arrivals and relaxation, a gourmet Dining Area that fuses African and international cuisine, a multi-tiered infinity pool and Jacuzzi overlooking the plains, an Astral Observation Deck for stargazing, and a curated Trading Post for keepsakes. Guests can indulge in outdoor games like bocce, molkky, horseshoes, and badminton, or unwind with private in-tent spa therapies. Families are warmly welcomed, with the Oneder Kids Programme inspiring young explorers as early as age two to develop a lifelong passion for wildlife and conservation.

The camp’s signature activities revolve around immersive safari excursions, offering close encounters with Serengeti wildlife—wildebeest, zebra, gazelle, lion, leopard, cheetah, and elephant—alongside meaningful interactions with local Maasai communities. Purpose-built safari vehicles cater to both amateur and professional photographers, ensuring every moment is picture-perfect.

Accommodation

Set in the core of Serengeti National Park—spanning approximately 15,000 square kilometres—One Nature Nyaruswiga Serengeti offers front-row access to the world’s most iconic wildlife phenomenon: the annual migration of wildebeest, zebras, gazelles, and elands across the sweeping Acacia-dotted savannah. Recognised as a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1981 and protected since 1940, the Serengeti is one of the last remaining places where wildlife roams freely across borders, unfenced and wild.

This exceptional ecosystem is home to a staggering diversity of fauna, with over 500 bird species and a rich population of predators including lions, leopards, cheetahs, and hyenas. Majestic elephants traverse the plains, completing the classic safari tableau.

One Nature Nyaruswiga is conveniently located just a 25-minute drive from Seronera Airstrip, the main gateway for luxury safari arrivals.

Travelers can reach Seronera via connecting flights from Kilimanjaro International Airport (JRO) to Arusha Airport, followed by a scenic 45–60-minute flight to the Serengeti. There are also direct flights from Julius Nyerere International Airport (DAR) in Dar Es Salaam. From Nairobi, flights depart from both Jomo Kenyatta International and Wilson Domestic Airports, with necessary customs and immigration stops at Tanzanian entry points before continuing to Seronera. Luggage restrictions apply: soft-sided bags, maximum 15 kilograms per person.

Service & Facilities

Each of the 14 tented suites at One Nature Nyaruswiga embodies a harmonious blend of vintage safari elegance and contemporary indulgence. The camp offers 12 lavish suites for couples and two expansive family tents, all under canvas and showcasing panoramic views of the Nyaruswiga plains. Every suite features a spacious bedroom and lounge area with en-suite bathroom, a private sundeck, and both indoor and outdoor rainforest showers. Family suites provide two separate bedrooms, each with its own en-suite, plus a shared living space and deck—ideal for multi-generational travelers. Naturally, eco-friendly amenities and toiletries are standard.

Our stay revealed meticulous attention to detail in every suite: mosquito-netted king-size four-poster beds dressed in 400-thread-count Egyptian cotton, a pillow menu featuring European goose down, generous walk-in wardrobes, and a statement hammered copper bathtub perfectly positioned for sunset views. Guests enjoy eco-conscious vanity kits, Molton Brown bath products in refillable containers, in-room safes and hairdryers, wood-burning stoves for cool evenings, handcrafted writing desks, and bathrooms fitted with twin copper basins. Beds can be configured as twins on request.

Both the indoor and outdoor showers are equipped with premium Hansgrohe fixtures, while custom-made furnishings—leather trunks, hardwood butler tables—evoke the golden age of safari. Every element, from vintage trunks to bespoke seating, has been curated with sustainability and comfort in mind.

Style

The heart of the camp is the expansive guest lounge and bar, seamlessly blending indoor and outdoor spaces. Here, plush Chesterfield sofas and leather armchairs create a refined yet welcoming ambiance, accented by curated art pieces and a sense of effortless comfort. Guests can unwind with chess, backgammon, cards, and classic board games under the warm glow of lanterns, or browse a thoughtfully stocked library for a quiet afternoon.

The split-level infinity pool offers magical views over the Serengeti, with the upper tier featuring a Jacuzzi and waterfall edge, and the lower level providing submerged loungers for cooling off during the midday sun. A swim-up bar ensures refreshments are always within reach, enhancing the resort’s laid-back luxury.

For those seeking relaxation after a day of adventure, in-tent spa treatments are available. Guests can also explore the night skies from the Astral Observation Deck, equipped with a powerful telescope, or shop for artisan crafts and travel essentials at the Trading Post. Professional-grade DSLR cameras and lenses are available for rent, catering to wildlife photography enthusiasts.

Of course, the safari experience is the main attraction. One Nature Nyaruswiga delivers expertly guided game drives in both open four-seater and semi-enclosed six-seater vehicles, custom-built for comfort with Italian leather seats, advanced suspension, and binoculars for each guest. The guiding team is among the Serengeti’s most knowledgeable, ensuring every outing is both safe and unforgettable.

Restaurants & Bars

The Serengeti conjures visions of endless golden plains, dramatic skies, and abundant wildlife—a landscape that One Nature Nyaruswiga captures with remarkable authenticity. The camp’s vibrant color palette and meticulous design evoke classic African elegance, complemented by attentive, genuinely warm staff who elevate the guest experience.

Every aspect of the camp’s construction reflects a dedication to both environmental responsibility and bespoke craftsmanship. Locally sourced, sustainable materials and artisanal techniques are used throughout, from custom-made furnishings to the advanced solar-powered laundry facilities. The resort’s solar farm further underscores its commitment to green hospitality.

One Nature Hotels & Resorts has made sustainable luxury its hallmark, championing the philosophy of "one people, one planet, one nature." By demonstrating how comfort and ethical living can go hand-in-hand, the camp inspires guests to become advocates for conservation. Our stay confirmed that this property is a benchmark for eco-conscious luxury, setting new standards for transformative travel in 2025.

Sustainability

The main dining area at One Nature Nyaruswiga Serengeti serves as a sophisticated culinary hub, offering both indoor and al fresco seating with sweeping views over the plains. The décor strikes a refined note with bespoke furnishings, plush carpets, and curated art—including an original 300-year-old map of Africa created for Sir Isaac Newton. Menus celebrate Tanzanian flavors and global classics, crafted with fresh, locally grown organic ingredients and aromatics native to the region.

The bar, renowned for its creative mixology, features an impressive selection of signature cocktails, premium spirits, and a thoughtfully curated wine list—each served alongside gourmet amuse-bouches. Coffee aficionados will be delighted by the Victoria Arduino hand-hammered espresso machine, ensuring barista-quality brews even in the wild.

Adjacent to the main lounge, the cigar lounge offers a rare selection of premium cigars—a perfect complement to the XO rums and cognacs on offer. With roll-up tent walls, guests can savor their smoke and drink while soaking in the Serengeti’s sights and sounds, creating an indulgent post-safari ritual.

What We Love

Sustainability is woven into every aspect of One Nature Nyaruswiga’s operations. The property relies on a comprehensive solar energy system for electricity, and its water supply is filtered and preserved through on-site reverse osmosis technology. All packaging is recyclable, and bath amenities are presented in reusable containers to minimize waste.

Whenever possible, the camp sources its ingredients from local producers, supporting community agriculture and ensuring fresh, organic cuisine for guests.

The One Nature Hotels Foundation continues to play a pivotal role in conservation and community engagement, focusing on three pillars: protecting wildlife, promoting sustainability, and empowering local communities. The Foundation actively backs the Serengeti De-Snaring Programme to combat poaching, funds anti-poaching advocacy groups, and supports ongoing tree-planting projects. The philosophy is clear: stewardship, not ownership, of the land.

With business success intrinsically linked to the health of the ecosystem, the Foundation is dedicated to offsetting the camp’s carbon footprint and fostering partnerships that benefit both the environment and local people. Initiatives include supporting beekeeping and silk farming, as well as bringing solar power to local schools, all aimed at creating a lasting, positive impact.
