Location

Stretching across eight kilometers (five miles) of immaculate, powdery white sands along Paradise Island’s dazzling north coast, The Ocean Club, A Four Seasons Resort, Bahamas stands as the pinnacle of Caribbean luxury. Nestled within 14 hectares (35 acres) of lush, manicured gardens, the resort offers 107 meticulously appointed rooms, suites, private plunge pool villas, and expansive villa residences. Culinary excellence is at the forefront here, with five distinctive restaurants and bars, including signature creations by world-renowned chef Jean-Georges Vongerichten.

Overlooking the endless Atlantic, the resort’s facilities are truly world-class. Three swimming pools cater to every mood: a lagoon-style oasis with playful water features for families, a sleek oceanfront pool basking in sunlight, and the exclusive Versailles Pool reserved for adults seeking tranquility. Families enjoy complimentary shuttle access to the adjacent Atlantis Resort’s acclaimed Aquaventure waterpark. Wellness is elevated with eight spa villas inspired by Balinese traditions, a state-of-the-art Fitness Centre featuring the latest TechnoGym equipment, dedicated Pilates and stretching studios, and an outdoor free-weights area. The championship 18-hole, par-72 Ocean Club Golf Course, designed by Tom Weiskopf, offers panoramic vistas of Nassau Harbour and the Atlantic, complete with a professional academy and pro shop.

Exclusive shopping awaits at the Carlo Milano Boutique, with luxury collections from Céline, Chopard, Hublot, Prada, Tom Ford, and Versace. The resort’s historic 12th-century Augustinian Cloister and classical sculptures are set amid breathtakingly curated gardens, creating an atmosphere of timeless elegance.

Accommodation

With its mesmerizing turquoise waters and dazzling white sands, the Bahamas consistently ranks among the world’s most alluring destinations—a fact not lost on legendary astronaut Buzz Aldrin, who famously vacationed on Paradise Island after his lunar mission.

The Ocean Club enjoys an enviable position on Paradise Island’s northern shoreline, where a ribbon of soft sand meets the crystalline Atlantic. The resort is seamlessly connected to New Providence Island and Nassau, the Bahamian capital, via two scenic bridges, ensuring effortless access to both urban vibrancy and secluded tranquility.

Guests can immerse themselves in the island’s rich culture by exploring Nassau’s historic districts on a horse-drawn carriage, discovering the Pompey and Junkanoo Museums, or browsing the city’s vibrant art galleries. Downtown Nassau, with its renowned duty-free shopping, diverse restaurants, and lively casinos, is a convenient 2.5 kilometers (1.5 miles) away.

Travelers arriving at Lynden Pindling International Airport can expect a comfortable transfer of approximately 40 minutes, covering a distance of about 19 kilometers (12 miles) to reach this exclusive oasis.

Service & Facilities

From the moment you arrive at The Ocean Club, you are enveloped in an atmosphere of understated sophistication, blending timeless glamour with contemporary comfort. The property’s 90 rooms, 12 suites, three plunge pool villas, and two grand villa residences are thoughtfully distributed across 14 hectares, all within steps of the pristine beach in elegantly designed, low-rise structures.

The Hartford Wing, steeped in the resort’s history, is home to Garden and Ocean View Rooms set around a tranquil courtyard. The Crescent Wing houses the Oceanfront Rooms and Suites, while the Villa Residences—perched just above the sand—boast private infinity pools and sweeping water views. The two-bedroom Plunge Pool Villas, nestled in lush gardens, evoke a chic beach house vibe with expansive courtyards and exclusive plunge pools.

During our stay, the Hartford Wing’s Garden View Room impressed with its abundant natural light, floor-to-ceiling sliding doors, and either a furnished terrace or balcony overlooking tropical foliage. Spacious enough for both dining and lounging, these rooms feature contemporary Caribbean décor, vibrant local artwork, and luxurious marble bathrooms with dual vanities, soaking tubs, and rainfall showers. Proximity to the resort’s heart—lobby, dining, pools—makes these accommodations especially convenient. For those seeking ocean panoramas, the Crescent Wing’s Jeffrey Beers-designed Ocean View Rooms offer private terraces, while the expansive one- and two-bedroom suites cater comfortably to families or groups, with flexible indoor/outdoor living spaces for up to six adults or children.

The Crescent Wing’s Luxury Ocean Front rooms and suites are a highlight, offering panoramic Atlantic vistas from private balconies. Their retro-inspired interiors—mahogany accents, hardwood flooring, and tropical motifs—pay homage to the resort’s heritage while ensuring modern comfort. Hammocks dot the landscape, perfect for peaceful sunrise views over the shoreline.

The two-bedroom Plunge Pool Villas are havens of privacy, with open-plan living and dining areas, French doors opening to secluded gardens, and attentive personal attendants available via the Four Seasons Chat app for bespoke service throughout your stay.

The three- and four-bedroom beachfront Villa Residences elevate group and family travel, featuring private infinity pools, gourmet kitchens, direct beach access, vaulted ceilings, rich wood finishes, and marble floors. A dedicated 24-hour residence team attends to every detail, from evening canapés and Dom Pérignon on arrival, to butler-driven golf cart transfers and priority restaurant reservations. Complimentary luxury SUV airport transfers are also included for Villa Residence guests.

For those seeking relaxation by the water, three distinct pools await: a playful lagoon pool with cascading waterfall for families, a 38-meter (125-foot) ocean pool designed for sun worshippers, and the Versailles Pool, an adults-only enclave surrounded by lush tropical gardens.

Families are exceptionally well cared for thanks to the Kids For All Seasons club, a complimentary program for ages 4–12, staffed by certified counselors. Activities span arts and crafts, interactive games, and educational marine explorations.

Adventure seekers can arrange bespoke excursions such as diving and snorkeling the Great Bahamas Bank, private yacht charters, or deep-sea fishing. Access to Atlantis Resort’s waterpark, shopping, and entertainment is included, ensuring every guest finds their ideal pace.

Restaurants & Bars

The Ocean Club’s legendary allure is inextricably linked to its cinematic history—most notably, Daniel Craig’s iconic swim in the 2006 James Bond film Casino Royale. The resort exudes a sense of refined adventure, from sipping expertly crafted martinis at the bar to relaxing in its elegant suites surrounded by an international jet set clientele.

Originally established as a private estate in 1939 by Swedish magnate Axel Wenner-Gren, the property’s transformation into a luxury haven was shaped by visionaries over the decades. Wenner-Gren, captivated by the beauty of what was then called Hog Island, spent years crafting extravagant gardens inspired by the Palace of Versailles.

In 1959, Huntington Hartford II, heir to the A&P fortune, acquired the island, renaming it Paradise Island and commissioning Palm Beach architect John Volk to design the original 52-room Ocean Club hotel and championship golf course. This foundation, now the Hartford Wing, set the stage for a new era of Bahamian hospitality.

Debuting in 1962, the Ocean Club quickly became a magnet for celebrities and dignitaries, with lavish parties and a guest list that included Zsa Zsa Gabor, Benny Goodman, and William Randolph Hearst. Hartford’s investments brought in terraced gardens, marble statues, and the remarkable 12th-century Augustinian Cloister, originally procured by Hearst and painstakingly reassembled here.

For those eager to channel their inner Bond, arriving by seaplane, reserving a sea-view Villa Residence, and perhaps taking a spin in an Aston Martin all remain part of the resort’s timeless fantasy.

Sustainability

The Ocean Club is celebrated for its vibrant gastronomic scene, featuring five distinct venues and the acclaimed culinary artistry of Jean-Georges Vongerichten.

At the signature restaurant Dune, Michelin-starred chef Jean-Georges presents an inspired fusion of French-Asian cuisine, elevated with local seafood and Bahamian spices. The restaurant’s prime location atop a sandy bluff offers panoramic ocean views, while its Sunday Brunch is renowned for lavish spreads and a convivial ambiance. For private gatherings, the Dune Backroom accommodates up to 40 guests, and the Dune Terrace is ideal for intimate celebrations for up to 20. The adjacent Dune Bar serves inventive island cocktails and a menu of light fare in a breezy, sociable setting.

The Ocean Restaurant is the go-to for casual daytime dining, with fresh grilled specialties served poolside overlooking the beach. The Versailles Terrace, set within the adults-only pool gardens, offers a menu marrying French and Mediterranean influences in a serene, garden-inspired setting.

For fans of 007, the Martini Bar and Lounge is a must-visit. Here, you can enjoy the signature Vesper Martini or sample a selection of creative concoctions from master mixologist Keith Cash, who has delighted guests with his artistry for over 30 years.

What We Love

The Ocean Club and Four Seasons continue to lead in environmental stewardship across the Bahamas. The resort has implemented a host of sustainability measures, including eliminating plastic straws, introducing reusable and recyclable coasters, and partnering with eco-conscious suppliers. Food is sourced locally wherever possible, and kitchen waste is processed by a third-party company using bio-conversion to produce renewable energy. Plastic-free coffee capsules, regular recycling of all materials, and donations of surplus toiletries to Clean the World are standard practice. Over 80% of the property is illuminated with LED lighting, and motion sensors control energy use in staff areas. Automated, energy-efficient systems manage guest room lighting, and comprehensive recycling covers everything from paper and glass to cooking oil. The resort is committed to preserving its beachfront and safeguarding native wildlife through ongoing conservation efforts.
