Location

Rising with architectural grandeur reminiscent of 1920s Manhattan, The Ritz-Carlton, Berlin commands a premier position at Potsdamer Platz, mere steps from the verdant Tiergarten. This five-star property seamlessly blends classic exterior lines with a vibrant Art Deco interior, immersing guests in the glamour of Berlin’s Jazz Age.

Since its debut in 2004, the hotel has consistently set the benchmark for luxury hospitality in the German capital, featuring 303 exquisitely appointed accommodations: 225 deluxe guestrooms, 41 suites, and 25 exclusive Club Rooms. The signature Ritz-Carlton Suite and the sprawling three-bedroom Penthouse both offer sweeping panoramas over Potsdamer Platz and the Tiergarten, delivering a true residential feel at the pinnacle of Berlin luxury.

Culinary experiences are curated at Pots Restaurant, where a modern interpretation of German cuisine meets innovative sharing plates, and at The Lounge, which offers an all-day menu from artisanal coffees to refined afternoon teas and Champagne pairings. The renowned Fragrances Bar pioneers sensory mixology, while the Curtain Club fuses Art Deco sophistication with Latin American flair, complete with live music. Meanwhile, connoisseurs can retreat to the Cigar Club, boasting a selection of twenty handpicked cigars overseen by the in-house expert.

For wellness, the hotel features a serene spa with an indoor pool, a state-of-the-art fitness studio, Finnish and steam saunas, and an extensive menu of bespoke beauty and relaxation treatments.

Accommodation

Positioned at the crossroads of Berlin’s vibrant art, business, and shopping districts, The Ritz-Carlton, Berlin enjoys unrivaled access to the city’s best attractions. Directly outside the hotel, both U-Bahn and S-Bahn stations at Potsdamer Platz whisk guests across the city, while Berlin Hauptbahnhof is a short ten-minute drive. The modern Berlin Brandenburg Airport (BER) is now the main international gateway, conveniently situated around 30 minutes by car or train.

Set within the Beisheim Center, the hotel is part of Berlin Mitte’s contemporary urban landscape—a striking contrast to the area’s Cold War history, where the Berlin Wall once divided the city. Today, remnants of that era, such as preserved Wall sections and Checkpoint Charlie, are easily accessible, alongside world-class museums like the Stasi Museum and the German Spy Museum.

Berlin’s historical legacy is palpable, from the moving Memorial to the Murdered Jews of Europe to the iconic glass-domed Reichstag by Sir Norman Foster. With over 170 museums, including the UNESCO-listed Museum Island, visitors are spoiled for choice. The Museum Pass Berlin grants entry to 30 top institutions—an essential for culture enthusiasts.

Nature lovers benefit from immediate proximity to the sprawling 210-hectare Tiergarten, while landmark sites such as Brandenburg Gate, Gendarmenmarkt, and the Philharmonie are all within walking distance. Shopping aficionados will appreciate the legendary KaDeWe department store and the chic boutiques of Friedrichstrasse, Kurfürstendamm, and Alexanderplatz, the latter now Berlin’s busiest plaza. Berlin’s network of canals—often compared to Venice—offers picturesque perspectives for photographers and joggers alike. The hotel provides detailed jogging maps through Tiergarten’s tranquil woods.

For day trips, the Baroque splendor of Charlottenburg Palace and the UNESCO-protected Sanssouci Palace in Potsdam are easily reached by car or train. Automotive enthusiasts can visit Autostadt Wolfsburg, home to another Ritz-Carlton property, in under an hour by ICE train.

Parking is seamless, with spacious underground garages at Potsdamer Platz Arkaden and the Sony Center.

The Carlton Club Suite and the Ritz-Carlton Suite are the top-tier options, both offering Club Lounge privileges. The Carlton Club Suite spans 106 square meters, with floor-to-ceiling views, a dining area for six, a grand marble bathroom, and a walk-in closet. Elegant finishes and original artworks establish a sense of understated luxury.

The pinnacle of accommodation is the 285-square-meter Ritz-Carlton Penthouse. This three-bedroom suite channels the feel of a private Berlin apartment, with soundproof windows, a dedicated workspace, an American Strato kitchen, and a dining room for ten. The living room features a marble fireplace and an extensive library. The master bathroom is a showpiece, with a dramatic black marble tub, glass shower, and a tropical rain panel. Restaurants & Bars

After an extensive €40 million transformation in 2019, The Ritz-Carlton, Berlin now stands as a showcase of Art Deco opulence, meticulously crafted by London’s GA Design to evoke the spirit of Berlin’s Roaring Twenties. The hotel’s design narrative is woven into every detail, from the soaring two-story lobby crowned by dramatic chandeliers to the sweeping marble staircase—an iconic setting during major events like the Berlinale Film Festival.

Our experience revealed a hotel that masterfully balances contemporary luxury with historic charm, underpinned by the renowned service standards of The Ritz-Carlton. The atmosphere is so evocative of the Art Deco era that it’s easy to imagine the property as a grand dame from the 1920s, rather than a modern architectural marvel.

Located mere moments from Berlin’s leading attractions, the hotel is perfectly placed for exploring the Tiergarten by bicycle, gallery-hopping through the city’s famed museums, or discovering the city’s intricate canal network. Whether guests seek culture, nature, or relaxation, The Ritz-Carlton, Berlin delivers an unmatched sense of place and occasion.

Sustainability

The culinary scene at The Ritz-Carlton, Berlin is a destination in itself. Pots Restaurant brings a modern twist to traditional German fare, with cozy banquettes, a private dining space, and an open kitchen for immersive gastronomic experiences. Menus are crafted around local, seasonal produce, and Chef Patron Dieter Müller, together with Chef Christopher Kujanski, presents four- to six-course tasting menus that celebrate German culinary heritage. The wine cellar features 200 exclusively German labels, with a focus on sustainable and emerging vintners. In summer, the terrace overlooking the Sony Center and Henriette-Herz Park offers an alfresco escape.

The Lounge, at the heart of the hotel, is adorned with marble floors and glittering mirrors, creating an inviting space for all-day dining, caviar tastings, and afternoon tea accompanied by live piano music. Tea sommeliers introduce guests to rare JING blends, elevating the afternoon ritual.

The Curtain Club fuses Art Deco elegance with the vibrant spirit of Latin America—think leather banquettes, live salsa performances, and a menu featuring both classic and innovative cocktails. The club’s walk-in humidor stocks twenty rotating cigars, curated by the in-house cigar expert for aficionados to savor in style.

Fragrances Bar is a pioneer in sensory mixology, crafting cocktails inspired by luxury perfumes. The bar’s interiors, awash in red, black, and gold, showcase ornate perfume bottles and pharmacy jars filled with exotic ingredients. A pop-up collaboration with GO by Steffen Henssler brings premium sushi and modern Japanese cuisine, paired with an impressive sake and wine selection. Japanese artistry is woven throughout, including eight hand-drawn Washi paper works illustrating the culinary concept.

The monthly Champagne brunch, held on the first Sunday, is a highlight for Berlin’s social set—beginning with drinks at The Curtain Club and The Lounge before an indulgent feast at Pots. The seafood station, curated by GO by Steffen Henssler, tempts with lobster, oysters, and sushi. In the warmer months, the Secret Champagne Garden opens atop the hotel, offering Louis Roederer and botanical cocktails in an exclusive al fresco setting.

What We Love

The Ritz-Carlton’s global sustainability vision is brought to life in Berlin through a multi-faceted approach: reducing energy and water usage, championing local and organic sourcing, and integrating eco-friendly products throughout the property. The hotel actively collaborates with regional farmers and suppliers, supports green construction, and empowers both staff and guests to participate in ongoing conservation programs.

One signature initiative is the rooftop apiary, where approximately 400,000 bees produce honey used in the hotel’s restaurants, bars, and spa treatments. Guests can also purchase the hotel’s signature honey cakes—a sweet reminder of their stay and a testament to the property’s commitment to urban biodiversity.

The thriving rooftop beehives exemplify The Ritz-Carlton, Berlin’s dedication to environmental stewardship, blending luxury hospitality with a tangible, local impact.
