Alibaba Group has unveiled its first future proof hotel

Alibaba, renowned globally as China’s dominant force in e-commerce, has redefined the future of hospitality with FlyZoo Hotel in Hangzhou. Powered by Alibaba’s travel arm, Fliggy, this revolutionary property is setting new benchmarks for digital innovation and guest-centric automation in the hotel industry.

Common travel frustrations — from lengthy check-in lines to misplaced key cards and sluggish room service — are virtually eliminated at FlyZoo Hotel. Upon arrival, guests are greeted by seamless digital processes that begin with the hotel’s proprietary mobile app. Through the app, travelers can secure reservations, select their preferred floor, and even choose the orientation of their room for optimal views. Domestic guests enjoy a fully digital check-in, bypassing the reception entirely, while international visitors utilize user-friendly lobby kiosks for swift registration. Integrating advanced AI, FlyZoo Hotel ensures a frictionless stay: facial recognition technology grants access to rooms and elevators, replacing traditional key cards and ushering in a new era of security and convenience.

Throughout the property, intelligent robots are omnipresent. In-room, each guest is assisted by Genie — Alibaba’s proprietary smart assistant — allowing voice control over climate, lighting, curtains, entertainment, and music. The interiors exude a contemporary, minimalist aesthetic, dominated by crisp whites and streamlined furnishings. Room service orders, whether for fresh linens or late-night snacks, are effortlessly handled by autonomous delivery robots, which respond promptly to Genie’s commands and can even collect laundry upon request.

Dining at FlyZoo is a futuristic experience in itself. The hotel’s restaurant is meticulously designed to minimize human contact, with the full menu accessible via the FlyZoo app. Orders are placed digitally and served by robotic waitstaff, ensuring both efficiency and novelty. Even the bar embraces automation: a robotic bartender equipped with an articulated arm can craft up to 20 signature cocktails, offering guests a unique blend of precision and entertainment. The experience challenges traditional notions of service, inviting guests to compare the robot’s mixology skills to those of a seasoned human bartender.

Checking out is equally streamlined. Guests who have prepaid can simply depart without the hassle of queues or paperwork, a testament to Alibaba’s commitment to convenience. As Wang, CEO of Alibaba Future Hotel, shared with Alizila, “By leveraging intelligent infrastructure and digital operations, our teams are empowered to focus on delivering truly exceptional, personalized service.”

The FlyZoo concept is designed to relieve staff from repetitive daily tasks, enabling them to devote more energy to bespoke guest interactions and elevated hospitality. For discerning travelers eager to experience the next generation of luxury accommodations, FlyZoo Hotel is available for direct booking. We invite you to share your perspective: does this seamless, tech-forward approach represent the future of travel — or is it simply a glimpse of what’s possible when technology meets hospitality?
