British Airways Unveils New 10-abreast B777 Cabins

British Airways has unveiled its reimagined Boeing 777 cabins operating out of Gatwick, now showcasing a modern 3-4-3 seating layout in World Traveller (Economy) with 10 seats per row. This adjustment increases seat count and slightly reduces individual seat width by approximately 10 percent, or 1.5 inches, aligning with global industry trends.

Both World Traveller Plus and World Traveller cabins have been upgraded with contemporary seat designs and expansive entertainment screens—now 50% larger for a more immersive viewing experience.

Attention to passenger comfort is evident: World Traveller Plus seats now feature an advanced leg and footrest, along with a highly adaptable six-way headrest, accommodating travelers of all heights. Each seat is thoughtfully equipped with a cocktail table and a stowable tray table within the armrest for added convenience.

The World Traveller Plus section on the three-class 777s has more than doubled its capacity, responding to increased demand for premium economy comfort.

Economy guests benefit from enhanced seating as well, featuring a six-way adjustable headrest with flexible side panels and movable center armrests for added flexibility and support.

Passengers on the upgraded 777s can enjoy Panasonic’s latest in-flight entertainment system, which delivers four times the previous selection of movies, TV shows, and audio. The interface is now even more user-friendly, utilizing gesture controls akin to a modern tablet, with HD screens that are both larger and brighter.

Screen sizes have expanded significantly: World Traveller Plus now offers impressive 12-inch displays, while World Traveller features 10-inch HD screens. Every seat is fitted with USB charging ports, and World Traveller Plus provides an additional universal power outlet compatible with UK, US, and EU plugs.

To further elevate the onboard environment, British Airways has installed customizable ambient lighting throughout the cabins. This innovative system mimics natural daylight cycles, helping travelers adjust to new time zones and minimize jetlag.

The full fleet of 10 long-haul Boeing 777 aircraft based at Gatwick has now been equipped with these new cabins. All six three-class aircraft and three four-class variants have completed the transformation, ensuring a consistent, premium experience for travelers departing from Gatwick.
