Take-off for the world’s largest Oktoberfest

As Munich welcomes another vibrant Oktoberfest, Lufthansa once again launches its renowned Trachten crew flights—this year, with the flagship Airbus A380 at the heart of the festivities.

For 2025, 21 Lufthansa flight attendants are set to swap their classic uniforms for exquisitely crafted Bavarian attire, creating the largest in-flight folk-costume crew in the world. The inaugural Trachten service departs Munich for Beijing, with a subsequent celebration flight bound for Los Angeles. Select intra-European routes also feature crews adorned in traditional costume, infusing every journey with Bavarian spirit.

Authentic Bavarian Attire for Lufthansa Cabin and Ground Teams

The signature outfits, designed by Munich’s storied atelier Angermaier, reflect the region’s heritage. Female crew members don deep blue dirndls paired with shimmering silver-grey aprons, while male attendants wear classic lederhosen and matching vests. Throughout September and October, Lufthansa CityLine crews also join in, donning dirndls on routes to destinations such as Amsterdam, Lyon, Gdansk, Milan, Sofia, Brussels, Ancona, Belgrade, Warsaw, Cologne, and Münster.

Munich Airport’s Terminal 2 is equally festive, where Lufthansa’s passenger support staff greet guests in traditional garb. This longstanding tradition enhances the sense of arrival, with women in authentic dirndls and men in stately Trachten suits, complementing the airline’s signature hospitality.

Gourmet Oktoberfest Offerings in Lufthansa Lounges

Lufthansa’s lounges in Terminal 2 and its satellite facility transform for Oktoberfest, serving up a curated selection of Bavarian delicacies. Guests can indulge in over 4,000 kilograms of Leberkäs’, more than 38,000 fresh pretzels, and roughly 750 kilograms of Weißwurst sausages. The First Class lounges feature a festive seasonal menu, beginning with Festtagssuppe, followed by traditional roast duck, and concluding with homemade apple strudel accompanied by vanilla sauce, roasted almonds, and rum-soaked raisins. In the Senator and Business lounges, travelers are treated to beloved Bavarian classics, including Leberkäs’, Fleischpflanzerl meatballs, and quark mousse topped with spiced plums.
